MB&F Launches Legacy Machine Perpetual Chromatic Editions Collection

 

Three Limited Edition Watches, All Featuring Sapphire Crystal Bezels

Late last year, MB&F partnered with its UAE partner Ahmed Seddiqi to launch two exquisite limited edition watches to celebrate the Emirati retailer's 75th anniversary. One of them was the LM Perpetual Baguette Diamonds Seddiqi 75th Anniversary Edition, a stainless steel timepiece featuring a diamond-set bezel—a first for the iconic perpetual calendar chronograph. Now, MB&F has launched three new LM Perpetual watches, each featuring a dazzling gemstone bezel.

The first two watches are crafted in 18K white gold with bezels set with blue or purple sapphires. The third is made in 18K red gold with a bezel set with red rubies. Each bezel is adorned with an elegant line composed of 48 baguette-cut gemstones, all meticulously hand-set.

The case dimensions remain the same as previous generations, 44 mm in diameter and 17.5 mm thick. A domed sapphire crystal seamlessly integrates with the case, and a double corrector is used to adjust the perpetual calendar function.

These new watches also feature distinctive PVD treatments on the hands, harmonizing with the gemstones or case material: purple dials with purple hands, blue dials with blue hands, and ruby ​​dials with 5N PVD-treated hands, echoing the warm tones of the red gold case.

At the center of the dial is a V-shaped bridge, arched over the 14 mm balance wheel, a signature design of the Legacy Machine series. Hours and minutes are displayed on a black electroplated sub-dial at 12 o'clock. The day of the week is at 3 o'clock, the power reserve indicator at 5 o'clock, and the retrograde leap year indicator at 7 o'clock. The month is displayed at 6 o'clock, and the date at 9 o'clock.

The Legacy Machine Perpetual watch fully utilizes its integrated architecture, placing the perpetual calendar mechanism above the mainplate, allowing its intricate operation to be clearly displayed from the dial side. Perpetual calendar watches are often difficult to read due to their numerous displays, but this watch significantly improves legibility through its skeletonized subdials (except for the time display), making the subdials appear to float above the movement without any visible support.

This watch is powered by a fully integrated perpetual calendar manual-winding movement specially developed by Stephen McDonnell for MB&F, featuring a double mainspring barrel. This movement is the same as that used in previous LM Perpetual watches, integrating the mechanical processor and dial-side complications. It boasts a 72-hour power reserve, a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz), comprises 581 parts, and includes 41 jewels.
