The player is known as a Star Caller
Along with the plethora of skills that players are given, Astellia attempts to differentiate itself from other MMOs through a"pet" collection system. In Astella, the player is known as a Star Caller, who has the capability to call upon Astels, that are pets that will assist you in battle. As you progress, new Astels will join you, which will allow you to build a team that will make your battles infinitely easier. Each new Astel which you earn also must get a place on your hotbar, along with your consumable items, your mounts, along with a completely separate bar that controls your Astels so they don't go rogue and begin attacking random things when you go AFK.
Personally, I believe that the addition of the Astels are solid, but my misgivings revolve primarily around the aesthetics of this Astels you receive. Yes, this is a MMO, so there are a few tropes which are anticipated, but it will seem a little strange to me that lots of those Astels you get are little women or odd anthropomorphic animals. Despite this, looking through the Astel cards, it was obvious that there are plenty of more trendy and dangerous appearing Astels which will surely appeal to other players like myself, that might not feel right summoning a group of small girls into conflict together.
Because it is a review beforehand, there are a whole lot of systems for me still to research, amounts to gain, and regions to conquer. If you are still on the fence following this preview, keep an eye out as I leave my verdict at the entire review. Review code was provided to MMORPG for the purposes of this review.
Astellia, such as several Korean MMORPGs, seems good on the surface. It's some nice visual effects, fight is flashy enough to capture your attention, and character designs are attractive without appearing too gratuitous. It is too bad then those initial impressions don't carry over to the game as a whole.
