Da ich zu 90% im RAW-Format fotografiere, also im Kamera-spezifischen Bildformat, war es zu Beginn etwas umständlich meine Bilder in Adobe¡¯s Photoshop Lightroom zu importieren. Zwar ist das mitgelieferte Softwarepaket mit einem RAW-Konverter und Entwickler ausger¨¹stet, erstaunlicherweise aber nur f¨¹r Windows Nutzer dienlich. So blieb mir schliesslich nichts anderes ¨¹brig als die Bilder mit Adobes DNG Konverter vorgängig umzuwandeln, um sie dann in einem zweiten Anlauf neu in Photoshop Lightroom zu importieren. Mit gewissen Umwegen kam ich schliesslich auch zum Ziel. Die RAW-Datei bzw. DNG-Datei, liess sich wie gewohnt mit allen verg¨¹gbaren Parametern des Adobe¡¯s Camera Raw sauber und verlustfrei entwickeln.

Die NX10 bringt zudem die Möglichkeit mit sich, pro Bild jeweils eine JPEG- und RAW-Datei zu erstellen. Eine Option, welche sich vor allem f¨¹r ambitionierte Fotografen intressant macht.Der Kamerainterne Bildprozessor entwickelt die JPEG-Bilder eigentlich sehr gut. Auch lassen sich Vorbearbeitung gleich in der Kamera vornehmen, wie beispielsweise f¨¹r Farben, Schwarzweiss- und Sepiaeffekte, Weichzeichnungseffekte (Porträt-Aufnahmen sind in drei verschiedenen Stufen wählbar. Der Weichzeichner wird ausschliesslich auf das Gesicht der fotografierenden Person angewendet, rätselhaft wie dies genau funktioniert).

Einer der Hauptgr¨¹nde warum ich im RAW-Format fotografiere ist, dass der Weissabgleich im Gegensatz zum JPEG-Format nachträglich bearbeitet werden kann. Doch ich muss zugeben, die automatische Weissabgleichsfunktion der NX 10 meistert diesen recht gut, wie ich bei einigen Testaufnahmen im JPEG-Format feststellen konnte.
Es ist echt schwierig die NX10 nicht zu mögen. Auch wenn mein Bericht teilweise etwas kritisch klingen mag, sind die angesprochenen Punkte f¨¹r die meisten Fotografen nicht Kauf entscheidend. Die Kamera meistert praktisch alle Bereiche hervorragend und ist in anbetracht ihrer Baugrösse und Klasse eine wunderbare Kamera! «Die beste Kamera ist welche die man ständig dabei hat!»Tendenziell w¨¹rde ich die kleine Samsung eher dem Einsteiger oder ambitionierten Fotografen zuschreiben. F¨¹r Profis sehe ich die NX10 als kleiner Alltagsbegleiter oder als ideale Ferienkamera.

Schliesslich zählt das Ergebnis wie so oft im Leben und die NX10 liefert eine sehr gute Bildqualität, noch selbst in den etwas höheren gelegenen ISO Regionen. Erst ab ISO1600 wird es kritisch. Mit 14,6 Megapixel ist man ausserdem sehr gut ger¨¹stet, auch noch f¨¹r morgen und ¨¹bermorgen. Mehr Pixel macht bei den getesteten Optiken auch keinen Sinn mehr, da stösst das Glas vermutlich an seine Grenzen.Die Ferienzeit steht bevor ¨C Erholungszeit f¨¹r die einen, Zeit, um das Fotohobby intensiv zu betreiben f¨¹r die anderen. Beiden stellen sich ähnliche Fragen: Was soll ich mitnehmen, was kann ich zu Hause lassen? Und was sollte man sich unbedingt noch besorgen?

Wenn wir in der Schweiz von Ferien sprechen, dann meinen wir eigentlich «Urlaub», wenn man es Genaudeutsch nimmt. Das sind nun mal die sprachlichen Feinheiten: Wir Schweizer fahren nicht in den Urlaub, sondern wir gehen in die Ferien. Aber meinen tun wir dasselbe: Es ist die Zeit, wo man der Erholung oder dem Hobby nachgeht. Die einen mehr dies, die anderen mehr jenes ¡­ F¨¹r viele Fotoenthusiasten ist das die Zeit, in der sie ausgedehnte Reisen vornehmen und fotografische Themen bearbeiten können. Je nach Faszinationsgrad und Erholungsbedarf, gibt es drei Arten von Fotoreisenden:
Bloss weg aus dem B¨¹ro und von zu Hause, irgendwo hin, wo¡¯s schön ist, wo man seine Ruhe hat und wo man eine andere Umgebung so geniessen kann, wie es einem gerade Spass und Freude macht. Das schöne Hotel geniessen, am Strand eine feine Sangria trinken oder vielleicht einmal bei einer gef¨¹hrten Tour aufsitzen. Kamera? Ach so ¨C dachte das Handy reicht? Aber wieso eigentlich nicht? Um da und dort ein paar Erinnerungen und Familienerlebnisse zu knipsen. Mehr aber nicht.

Typ 2: Der Fotothemen-Reisende

Endlich Ferien! Die Fototasche ist schon dreimal gepackt, kontrolliert und optimiert. Stativ muss mit ¨C klar. Die Frage ist nur welches? Das grosse oder das kleine? Gen¨¹gend Speicherkarten, Zweitakku ¡­ alles dabei! Jetzt kann¡¯s losgehen, um ganz gezielt gewisse vorgeplante Themen fotografisch zu bearbeiten. Erholung? Schon, aber in den Ferien immer am Strand faulenzen ist ja langweilig! Lieber ferne Länder und Städte mit der Kamera erkunden oder bestimmte fotografische Themen bearbeiten.

Dient die Ferienzeit ausschliesslich dazu, eine bestimmt Region fotografisch zu erforschen und zu dokumentieren, so beginnt die Reiseplanung schon Monate im Voraus. Man macht sich nicht nur mit der Geografie, den Besonderheiten und den Risiken des zu bereisenden Landes vertraut, sondern man plant auch ganz exakt die Route und die dazu erforderlichen Verkehrsmittel. Davon hängt auch weitgehend ab, welche Ausr¨¹stung man mitnehmen kann. Der Kanureisende muss sich deutlich mehr einschränken als der Wohnmobil-verwöhnte.

Zu welcher Kategorie von Ferienreisenden Sie nun gehören, die Frage nach der fotografischen Ausr¨¹stung wird sie schon lange vor den ersehnten Ferienwochen beschäftigen.Typ 1 hat es vergleichsweise einfach: Es reicht, beim Kofferpacken noch schnell zur Kamera zu greifen, damit diese nicht versehentlich zu Hause bleibt. Reicht das wirklich? Ist die Speicherkarte in der Kamera, oder steckt diese noch im Lesegerät am Computer? Wo ist das Ladegerät? Und das Kabel dazu? Und falls doch zwei Kameras im Haushalt existieren, welche soll mit?Typ 2 ist wahrscheinlich hochgradig ferienreif, weil er sich seit Wochen den Kopf dar¨¹ber zerbricht, was er nun alles mitnehmen, und was er mit einem schlechten Gewissen zu Hause lassen soll. F¨¹r viele sind Ferien die ideale Zeit, um dem Hobby zu frönen und sich ganz der Fotografie zu widmen. Oder wenigsten soweit dies die Familie zulässt ¡­ Heisser Tipp: Nehmen Sie nur mit, was Sie auch wirklich noch einigermassen komfortabel mitschleppen können. Ich weiss nicht weshalb das so ist, aber je länger die Ferien dauern, desto schwerer scheinen die Fototaschen zu werden ¡­

Typ 3 hat eigentlich kurz vor der Abreise keine Probleme ¨C mehr. Wenn es wirklich darum geht zwei, drei oder mehr Wochen lang die nördlichsten Fjorde von Norwegen oder die Faszination Islands zu dokumentieren, dann ist Typ 3 reisegewohnt und weiss, dass er sich Monate zuvor intensiv mit den Reisevorbereitungen befassen muss. Minutiös ist die Route vorgeplant, er hat sich mit dem Land und den Leute befasst und alle Literatur beschafft und Internetseiten geklickt, die auch nur den leisesten Verdacht auf heisse Tipps versprechen.Soweit so gut. Und doch gibt es noch ein paar Punkte, die sich Typ eins bis drei ¨¹berlegen sollten:

Typ 1 horcht auf: Also doch beide Kameras mitnehmen? Ja, ich rate dringend dazu! Auch Typ 2 und 3 sollten neben ihrer grossen und schweren Spiegelreflexkamera eine kleine Kompaktkamera dabei haben, als «fotografisches Rettungsboot» sozusagen. Akkus beispielsweise verabschieden sich immer dann, wenn es am spannendsten und am schönsten ist. Ja, klar ¨C Zweitakku, ich weiss. Dann wollen aber zwei Akkus gewartet um regelmässig geladen werden, denn Akkus hassen nichts mehr, als wenn sie nicht gebraucht werden.Ich habe immer eine zweite Kamera dabei, und oft habe ich die schwere Fototasche (ungerne) im Auto oder Hotelzimmer gelassen, weil ich nur gerade mit der Kleinen eine Tour machen wollte. Oder weil ich nicht mit meiner Riesenkamera am Auge die Einheimischen aufscheuen, sondern diese unbemerkt aus der H¨¹fte fotografieren wollte. Das geht mit den modernen Digitalkameras vorz¨¹glich, weil sie kein verräterisches Auslösegeräusch mehr von sich geben.

Neben der Spiegelreflexkamera noch eine Kompaktkamera ist eine sinnvolle Ergänzung: Die Kleine f¨¹r alle Fälle Auch Typ 2 wird sich diesen Ratschlag gerne merken und vielleicht noch ins Frontfach der grossen Fototasche eine kleine Coolpix oder PowerShot (oder was auch immer) einstecken.Ihn belastet zur Zeit jedoch mehr die Frage nach der sinnvollen Anzahl Speicherkarten. JEPG oder/und RAW? Reichen die beiden 8 GB, oder lieber noch eine dritte kaufen? Tipp: Man kann nie zu viele Speicherkarten dabei haben. Und im Gegensatz zu den fr¨¹heren voluminösen Filmschachteln, die zudem noch k¨¹hl und trocken gelagert werden mussten, kommt es heute auf zwei oder drei Speicherkarten kaum an. Ich lasse die Bilder ¨¹brigens immer auf den Karten, bis ich zu Hause bin. Obwohl ich immer einen Computer oder mindestens einen Bildertank dabei habe, sind die Speicherkarten mein sicheres Backup in den Ferien. Speicherkarten sind unempfindlich gegen magnetische Strahlung, gegen Hitze, Kälte und Feuchtigkeit, und so kann den Bildern auf den Speicherkarten eigentlich kaum etwas passieren. Daraus geht auch der nächste Tipp hervor: Lieber zwei, drei Speicherkarten mit kleinerer Kapazität mitnehmen, als ein grosse, auf der im schlimmsten Fall alle Bilder verloren sein könnten. Ganz abgesehen davon, sind zwei «kleinere» Speicherkarten auch deutlich g¨¹nstiger als eine grosse.

De fabrikant heeft momenteel geen plannen om de mobiele Radeon HD 4870 in de M17x alsnog van gddr5 te voorzien. Dell is wel bereid om ontevreden klanten die restitutie willen, volledig terug te betalen, maar vraagt hen om hun aankoop eerst goed uit te proberen voordat ze de M17x daadwerkelijk terugsturen. Dell geeft aan goede hoop te hebben dat klanten die de proef op de som nemen, tevreden zullen zijn met hun machine.Alienware heeft een nieuwe lijn laptops aan zijn assortiment toegevoegd die uitgerust kunnen worden met een Athlon 64 X2 dual-coreprocessor, de Aurora m7700. Deze laptops zullen ook verkrijgbaar zijn met een Athlon 64 FX of Opteron. Naast de keuze voor een processor met twee cores, zijn er nog meer 'dual'-opties aanwezig. Zo kan de laptop uitgerust worden met twee Serial ATA harde schijven, met ondersteuning voor RAID 0 en RAID 1. Ook kan er een extra optisch loopwerk geplaatst worden, zodat het mogelijk is om een film op dvd te bekijken en tegelijkertijd een dvd te branden. Dit kan op een 17" breedbeeld lcd-scherm met 1440x900 of 1900x1200 beeldpunten. Dat weer wordt aangestuurd door een GeForce Go 7800 GTX, Go 6800 Ultra, Go 6800 of een Quadro FX Go 1400. Hoelang een gebruiker van al dit geweld kan genieten zonder een verbinding met de plaatselijke energieleverancier, is echter niet duidelijk.

Electronic Arts heeft besloten de originele variant van het spel SimCity weg te geven aan de Olpc-organisatie voor gebruik op de XO-laptops. De gamebouwer wil hiermee de educatieve bruikbaarheid van de laptop benadrukken.Spelers nemen in SimCity de functie van burgemeester in een nieuwe stad op zich, wat inhoudt dat ze verantwoordelijk zijn voor de aanleg en het onderhoud van de volledige stad. Om dat te bereiken moeten huizen, bedrijven, ziekenhuizen en wegen gebouwd worden. Het spel is inmiddels meer dan 18 miljoen maal verkocht, aldus EA. De versie van SimCity die is weggeven, is het origineel uit 1989, schrijft Gamasutra. Deze klassieker is overigens via EA's site nog steeds te spelen.

Steve Seabolt, bij EA als vice-president verantwoordelijk voor de wereldwijde merkontwikkeling van het The Sims-label, vertelt: 'SimCity is een vorm van entertainment die ook educatief ingezet kan worden. Spelers leren om met een beperkte hoeveelheid resources hun steden te bouwen en te verbeteren. Men moet keuzes maken die gevolgen hebben, het belangrijkste is dat het een creativiteitstool is die slechts gelimiteerd is door het voorstellingsvermogen van de speler.'Hij heeft er dan ook alle vertrouwen in dat het spel een goede manier zal zijn om het Olpc-project te helpen bij het bereiken van het doel om alle kinderen van wereld onderwijs aan te bieden. Naar verwachting zal de XO-laptop nog voor het einde van het jaar in Uruguay, Peru, Mexico, Ethiopië, Rwanda, Haïti, Cambodja en India verspreid worden.

De TU Delft presenteert donderdag een oplossing om met spierkracht een laptop van energie te voorzien. De universiteit doet mee aan een wedstrijd van Intel, waarbij een notebook met groene energie aangedreven moet worden.Energiebeheer WindowsDe opdracht die de chipmaker aan vijf Europese universiteiten meegaf, was om een laptop zonder accu of netspanning door middel van een milieuvriendelijke energiebron een uur lang in de lucht te houden. Op het notebook wordt tijdens het uur een video vertoond, waardoor de cpu continu belast wordt. Naast de TU Delft doen universiteiten uit België, Spanje, Duitsland en Italië mee aan de Intel-wedstrijd, zo schrijft het bedrijf in een persbericht. De onderwijsinstellingen kunnen als hoofdprijs computer- en wetenschappelijk materiaal naar keuze winnen.

Het team van de Technische Universiteit Delft, bestaande uit vijf studenten van de Faculteit Industrieel Ontwerpen, wil nog weinig details prijsgeven over hun oplossing. Universitair docent Arjen Jansen wil tegenover Tweakers.net wel kwijt dat het ontwikkelde prototype genoeg energie kan leveren om de laptop met behulp van schommelbewegingen van het onderbeen van voldoende energie te voorzien. 'We hebben nu een werkend prototype, maar de efficiency waarmee spierarbeid omgezet wordt in electriciteit is nog een kritisch punt.' Volgens Jansen vraagt de laptop tijdens het spelen van de film een gemiddeld vermogen van 20W.

Intel zal op 12 november een afgevaardige naar Delft sturen om de inzending te beoordelen. Naast de methode van de TU Delft om met behulp van spierarbeid een laptop te laten draaien, werken andere universiteiten aan oplossingen waarbij zonne-energie of brandstofcellen voldoende vermogen moeten bieden. Op 28 november zal de chipmaker de uiteindelijke winnaar bekend maken. Intel zegt de wedstrijd te hebben uitgeschreven om meer aandacht te vragen voor het energieverbruik van computers.
Tijdens het Intel Developer Forum in het Taiwanese Taipei is een nieuwe technologie voor het sneller laten opstarten van op het Centrino-platform gebaseerde laptops getoond. Onder de naam Robson heeft Intel een methode ontwikkeld die door het gebruik van NAND-flashgeheugen de opstarttijd van een laptop vrijwel tot nul terugbrengt. Ook applicaties die vanuit dit flashgeheugen gestart worden, zijn eerder gebruiksklaar dan wanneer zij vanaf de harde schijf gelezen worden. Zo werd Adobe Reader vanuit het NAND-geheugen in 0,4 seconde opgestart, terwijl een identieke laptop met een harde schijf als opstartmedium hier 5,4 seconde voor nodig had. Het gebruik van Robson leidt niet alleen tot snellere opstarttijden, maar ook tot een lager energiebruik, doordat de reguliere harde schijf geen toeren hoeft te maken. Volgens Intel is de technologie inmiddels volwassen genoeg om in productie genomen te worden. Wanneer dit precies gaat gebeuren, is afhankelijk van hoe snel computerfabrikanten met Robson in zee willen. Gezien de voordelen verwacht Intel dat dit gebruik van flashgeheugen als eerste in de zakelijke markt zal plaatsvinden.

Dell heeft Latitude ON geïntroduceerd. Deze combinatie van ARM-chip en uitgeklede Linux-software zorgt ervoor dat laptopgebruikers snel een desktopomgeving met internettoegang kunnen opstarten, waarbij de accu het lang zou volhouden.Vorig jaar lichtte Dell al een tipje van de sluier van Latitude ON op en de Latitudes E4200 en E4300 ondersteunden de technologie al, maar deze laptops werden nog niet met de benodigde tweede processor geleverd. De introductie van de zakelijke Latitude Z600 markeert de officiële introductie van Latitude ON: dit model wordt met zowel de hard- als de software geleverd.

Latitude ON bestaat uit de combinatie van de op de ARM-architectuur gebaseerde OMAP 4330-processor van Texas Instruments en een uitgekleed op Linux gebaseerd besturingssysteem. Het opstarten van de desktopomgeving zou volgens Dell ongeveer 2 seconden duren en een gebruiker kan vervolgens Firefox, zonder Flash-ondersteuning, gebruiken en mail ophalen en versturen. Voor dit laatste zou ondersteuning voor Microsoft Exchange en het pop-protocol aanwezig zijn. Ook wordt de Linux-omgeving standaard met de Citrix Receiver uitgerust, zodat gebruikers bedrijfsapplicaties op afstand kunnen benaderen. Ook kan Latitude ON standaard documenten van Micorosoft Office en pdf-bestanden openen.

De externe poorten van een laptop werken niet als een gebruiker in Latitude ON-modus werkt, het apparaat kan dan alleen verbinding maken via de geïntegreerde wifi- of 3g-module. Dell claimt dat een laptop met een zescellige accu het 17 uur volhoudt als de gebruiker niet van Windows maar van Latitude ON gebruikmaakt.EWeek schrijft dat notebookfabrikanten vanaf januari volgend jaar zullen beginnen laptops met dual-coreprocessors op de markt te brengen. De eerste dual-core-laptops zullen gebaseerd zijn op Intels Napa-platform en de 32bit-Yonah-processor huisvesten. Mogelijkerwijs zal Apple deze processor volgend jaar ook gaan gebruiken in zijn iBooks en Powerbooks. In mei 2006 worden notebooks met een dual-core-versie van AMD's 64bit-Turion-processor verwacht en omstreeks dezelfde tijd zou de Yonah-processor reeds opgevolgd worden door de 64bit-Merom-processor. Volgens sommige analisten zullen dual-core-processors in de tweede helft van 2006 de laptopmarkt gaan domineren.

dual core Dual-core-laptops zouden significant betere prestaties leveren dan laptops met de single-core Pentium M-processor, zonder dat er veel meer stroomverbruik tegenover staat of dat er ingrijpende veranderingen in de rest van de hardware nodig zijn. Yonah-laptops zouden daarnaast niet veel meer gaan kosten dan vergelijkbare laptops met de Pentium M-processor. Deze factoren zouden volgens analisten aan een snelle transitie naar dual-core-processors in laptops bij kunnen dragen; de marketing van Intel moet de rest doen.De 32-bit-Yonah-processor zal vrij snel opgevolgd worden door de 64bit-Merom, waarschijnlijk vanwege AMD's 64bit-Turion-processor die wellicht voor de zomer van 2006 al in dual-core-versie in bepaalde HP-laptops zal verschijnen. De Yonah zou daarmee slechts ongeveer een half jaar op de voorgrond van de laptopmarkt staan. Van de Merom-processor wordt verwacht dat die niet significant veel meer stroom zal verbruiken dan de Yonah, maar wel beduidend betere prestaties zal leveren.

Le groupe a aussi fait ¨¦voluer sa Type Cover, un ¨¦tui qui fait office de clavier. Ce dispositif avait fait sensation lors de la sortie de la premi¨¨re tablette Surface. Cette version est un millim¨¨tre plus fine que l¡¯ancienne. Les touches sont ¨¤ pr¨¦sent r¨¦tro¨¦clair¨¦es.
La Surface Pro 2 sortira comme la Surface 2 dans 21 pays le 22 octobre. Cette tablette existera en quatre versions (64 Go, 128 Go, 256 Go et 512 Go) et son prix s'¨¦chelonnera entre 879 euros et 1 779 euros.

Telle est, en substance, la pr¨¦sentation qu¡¯une start-up br¨¦silienne fait de son projet fond¨¦ sur une interface cerveau-ordinateur (ICO). Pr¨¦sentation plutôt aventureuse qui en dit long sur les fantasmes que fait naître l¡¯id¨¦e d¡¯utiliser les ondes de notre cerveau pour piloter un ordinateur et, derri¨¨re lui, la machine qu¡¯il contrôle. Pour autant, les ICO sont un domaine de recherche qui excite des chercheurs du monde entier. Ils ¨¦taient 250, r¨¦unis du 3 au 7 juin ¨¤ Monterey (Californie), pour l¡¯International BCI Meeting (BCI pour brain computer interface, les ICO en anglais). Capter des ondes c¨¦r¨¦brales pour d¨¦placer un fauteuil roulant, c¡¯est possible, et c¡¯est m¨ºme pour ce type d¡¯utilisation ¨C rendre plus autonomes des personnes paralys¨¦es ¨C qu¡¯ont ¨¦t¨¦ lanc¨¦es les recherches sur les ICO.

Depuis, les applications potentielles se sont multipli¨¦es : les jeux vid¨¦o toujours ¨¤ l¡¯affût de nouvelles exp¨¦riences pour le joueur, la robotique, la formation, la navigation sur le web, la domotique, la d¨¦fense (pilotage de drones, assistance au pilote d¡¯avion¡­), et l¡¯automobile. Nissan travaille par exemple avec l¡¯École polytechnique f¨¦d¨¦rale de Lausanne (EPFL) sur des syst¨¨mes d¡¯assistance ¨¤ la conduite. Quant aux applications m¨¦dicales, elles concernent maintenant la r¨¦¨¦ducation et m¨ºme la th¨¦rapeutique. Mensia Technologies, une start-up française issue de l¡¯Inria, veut commercialiser un jeu pour le traitement des troubles de l¡¯attention chez les enfants.

Pour faire une ICO, il faut un casque d¡¯¨¦lectroenc¨¦phalographie (EEG), qui capte les ondes c¨¦r¨¦brales, et pas mal de math¨¦matiques et de logiciels pour traiter les signaux et les transformer en commande agissant sur un ordinateur ou un ¨¦quipement. Quelle que soit l¡¯application, les chercheurs ont un triple d¨¦fi ¨¤ relever : s¨¦lectionner, mesurer et interpr¨¦ter les signaux int¨¦ressants pour l¡¯application vis¨¦e ; assurer la fiabilit¨¦ du syst¨¨me sans imposer trop d¡¯apprentissage ¨¤ l¡¯op¨¦rateur ; r¨¦aliser le tout pour un coût abordable. Sur ce dernier point, l¡¯arriv¨¦e r¨¦cente de casques d¡¯EEG grand public est un net progr¨¨s. Vendus quelques centaines d¡¯euros ¨C dix ¨¤ cent fois moins cher que les mat¨¦riels m¨¦dicaux ¨C par des soci¨¦t¨¦s comme Emotiv ou NeuroSky, ils pr¨¦sentent aussi l¡¯avantage d¡¯¨ºtre plus simples ¨¤ mettre en œuvre : fini le gel pour assurer le contact des ¨¦lectrodes avec le crâne. Les ¨¦diteurs de jeux vid¨¦o ont appr¨¦ci¨¦. Ils (Ubisoft, Kylotonn Games¡­) ont notamment particip¨¦ au projet français OpenVibe2, qui a donn¨¦ naissance ¨¤ plusieurs prototypes. « Ces casques n¡¯ont pas les performances des casques m¨¦dicaux, mais c¡¯est un premier pas vers un compromis efficace », indique Fabrice L¨¦cuyer, qui a dirig¨¦ le projet ¨¤ l¡¯Inria.

Le cœur de l¡¯ICO, c¡¯est le traitement des ondes c¨¦r¨¦brales, les signaux ¨¦lectriques produits par les neurones en activit¨¦. Deux options sont possibles. Soit demander ¨¤ l¡¯utilisateur de produire une image mentale (par exemple, imaginer le mouvement de sa main droite), et traduire le signal correspondant en une commande pour l¡¯ordinateur : c¡¯est l¡¯imagerie motrice. Soit envoyer un stimulus (un bouton clignotant sur l¡¯¨¦cran de l¡¯ordinateur¡­), et utiliser la r¨¦action du cerveau pour s¨¦lectionner une action. L¡¯imagerie motrice est utilis¨¦e dans des prototypes de jeux, pour d¨¦placer un objet, par exemple. C¡¯est aussi le choix de l¡¯EPFL, qui a mis au point une ICO pour un fauteuil roulant. L¡¯utilisateur se d¨¦place en imaginant des mouvements simples (main droite ¨C main gauche) et la s¨¦curit¨¦ du d¨¦placement est assur¨¦e grâce ¨¤ une batterie de capteurs et de cam¨¦ras. Avantage : le fauteuil ob¨¦it aux ordres de son occupant. Inconv¨¦nient : l¡¯apprentissage peut ¨ºtre long. Et l¡¯efficacit¨¦ d¨¦pend de l¡¯¨¦tat mental (fatigue¡­) de l¡¯utilisateur. C¡¯est pourquoi beaucoup d¡¯ICO optent pour la s¨¦lection de commandes provoqu¨¦e par des stimuli visuels. Des flashs balayant lettres, symboles ou boutons sur l¡¯¨¦cran, permettent de d¨¦tecter la commande sur laquelle se focalise l¡¯op¨¦rateur. Des scintillements de diff¨¦rentes fr¨¦quences, qui produisent des ondes correspondantes dans le cerveau, multiplient les possibilit¨¦s de s¨¦lection. Avec une ICO de ce type, on peut jouer, piloter ses ¨¦quipements domestiques (comme dans le projet europ¨¦en BrainAble, tout juste clôtur¨¦), voire faire fonctionner un exosquelette qui pourrait aider un handicap¨¦ ¨¤ remarcher, tel Mindwalker, en cours d¡¯¨¦valuation clinique en Italie.

Les points faibles des ICO stimul¨¦es : la lenteur de la s¨¦lection des commandes¡­ et la focalisation de l¡¯utilisateur sur l¡¯¨¦cran. L¡¯avantage majeur est la simplicit¨¦ de l¡¯apprentissage. Si nombre de projets exploitent ces deux options (parfois simultan¨¦ment), d¡¯autres explorent des ICO passives : le but n¡¯est plus de transmettre une commande, mais de surveiller et de mesurer l¡¯¨¦tat mental de l¡¯op¨¦rateur (attention, ¨¦motions, stress¡­). Des mesures grâce auxquelles on peut adapter un jeu ¨¤ la concentration du joueur, aider un op¨¦rateur en tenant compte de sa charge mentale¡­

No, this isn¡¯t literally a full-size graphics card shoved into a normal laptop ¨C that would be absurdly bulky. Instead, it¡¯s just the desktop GTX 980 chip taking the place of a cut-down 980M chip. Working in tandem with laptop manufacturers and Intel, Nvidia has managed to provide enough cooling to keep even an overclocked GPU and Skylake CPU from melting.If you¡¯re still sceptical about the whole announcement, preferring to believe a laptop can¡¯t possibly match the performance of a desktop PC, prepare to be impressed. With such marginal differences, there¡¯s no doubt that this is a full-scaled GTX 980 housed within a portable shell.There¡¯s little in the way of compromise. Certains ont pourtant critiqu¨¦ la nouvelle offre Unity Plus, qui se positionne entre Unity Personal (gratuit) et Unity Pro (dont le prix a augment¨¦). Qu'est-ce qui a motiv¨¦ son introduction ?

Nous sommes convaincus que les d¨¦veloppeurs ind¨¦pendants restent le cœur de notre base utilisateurs. Nous nous en pr¨¦occupons beaucoup et nous pensons qu'une grande partie de l'innovation provient d'eux aujourd'hui. De plus, la majorit¨¦ d'entre eux ont des revenus inf¨¦rieurs ¨¤ 200 000 dollars par an. Que pensez-vous du mod¨¨le ¨¦conomique de l¡¯Unreal Engine, qui pr¨¦l¨¨ve un pourcentage des b¨¦n¨¦fices du d¨¦veloppeur une fois que ses revenus d¨¦passent un certain seuil ?

J¡¯ai ¨¦t¨¦ ¨¤ la t¨ºte d¡¯un grand ¨¦diteur [ndlr: Il a dirig¨¦ Electronic Arts de 1997 ¨¤ 2004], et le mod¨¨le ¨¦conomique par royalties est le pire qui soit. Pour un jeu comme Clash of Clans, le d¨¦veloppeur se retrouverait ¨¤ payer 100 millions de dollars de royalties par an. Cela fait 1 million par poste et par jeu. Vous savez, les gens aspirent ¨¤ cr¨¦er des jeux vid¨¦o, et je ne veux pas transformer leur r¨ºve en cauchemar. Devoir payer pour son succ¨¨s n¡¯est pas juste selon moi. Je ne blâme pas Epic Games pour ce choix, mais avec notre mod¨¨le, les d¨¦veloppeurs savent ¨¤ quoi s¡¯attendre.

Nous avons tripl¨¦ la taille de notre ¨¦quipe d'ing¨¦nierie ces deux derni¨¨res ann¨¦es. Chaque plateforme (PC, mobiles, consoles...) comporte ses propres d¨¦fis. Unity est un produit qui fait beaucoup de choses, qui est utilis¨¦ par 5,5 millions de personnes dans le monde. Nous avons des mises ¨¤ jour chaque semaine, avec un mod¨¨le de double version : une stable pour la production, et une plus exp¨¦rimentale, qui permet aux d¨¦veloppeurs de tester les toutes derni¨¨res nouveaut¨¦s en avance, comme des fonctionnalit¨¦s pour l'Oculus Rift ou le HTC Vive. C'est un syst¨¨me d'open beta.



Au sujet des "analytics" et de la publicit¨¦, justement. L¡¯analyse des donn¨¦es a ¨¦t¨¦ adopt¨¦e par plus de 100 000 jeux depuis son introduction en janvier 2015. Est-ce que c¡¯est devenu un must pour le d¨¦veloppement mobile ?

Je pense que oui. Si vous ne comprenez pas profond¨¦ment vos utilisateurs, vous ne pouvez pas r¨¦ussir. Et il vous faut aussi bien comprendre votre business. Ils d¨¦veloppent car ils sont fans. Il faudra ¨¤ mon sens encore deux ans avant que cela ne devienne un vrai business, et je ne saurai pas encore vous dire quels jeux seront un succ¨¨s. As we found when we drove it, one big problem is that everyone expects a car to be noisy, and London pedestrians have an odd habit of defying natural selection by walking out into the road without looking. A lack of a recharging stations doesn¡¯t help. But this is surely a sign of things to come.

Android Wear watches are nothing new, but 2015 saw a stream of smart timepieces we¡¯d be happy to put on our wrists ¨C and we couldn¡¯t say that at the end of 2014. Whether it¡¯s the super-stylish Huawei Watch, the Motorola Moto 360 2 or the Sony SmartWatch 3, the combination of hardware and software is now a match for the Apple Watch ¨C and, arguably, even better. Neben der Verbesserung von Funktionalität und Ergonomie galt Panasonics Aufmerksamkeit bei der Entwicklung der Lumix G Micro-Systemkameras der bestmöglichen Bildqualität. Der 12,1-Megapixel-Live-MOS-Sensor im 4/3-Format vereint Vorteile von CCD-Sensoren bei der Bildqualität mit dem geringeren Energieverbrauch von CMOS-Sensoren. Die aktuelle Technologie macht das simultane Auslesen der Sensordaten ¨¹ber vier Kanäle möglich. Er trennt Farb- und Helligkeitsrauschen, um sie jeweils optimal zu unterdr¨¹cken, so dass die Bildqualität selbst bei hohen ISO-Werten bestmöglich erhalten bleibt. F¨¹r eine nuancierte, originalgetreue Farbwiedergabe arbeitet Venus Engine HD2 ausserdem mit einer getrennten Gradationssteuerung f¨¹r die R-, G- und B-Kanäle. So nutzt Venus Engine HD2 das volle Leistungsvermögen des hochauflösenden 12-Megapixel-Sensors aus. Neu beim Venus Engine HD2 ist die intelligente Auflösungs-Technologie. Diese neuartige Signalverarbeitung verbessert die Qualität von Fotos und Videos noch weiter. Sie erkennt drei entscheidende Bildbestandteile automatisch. Kanten werden betont und hervorgehoben, in fein strukturierten Bereichen werden die Details betont und bei kontrastarmen und unscharfen Flächen sorgt eine weiter verbesserte Rauschunterdr¨¹ckung f¨¹r gleichmässig softe Flächen ohne Farbstörungen. Die Bildsignalverarbeitung erfolgt dabei Pixel f¨¹r Pixel auf die jeweils effektivste Weise.

Das Ergebnis sind nat¨¹rlicher wirkende, lebendigere und schärfere Fotos und Videos als zuvor. Wie alle Lumix G Modelle ist auch die G10 mit einem effektiven Staubschutzsystem vor dem Sensor ausgestattet. Es verhindert, dass sich bei Objektivwechsel eindringende Staubteilchen dort absetzen und in Form schwarzer Punkte im Bild störend bemerkbar machen. Dies geschieht mit Hilfe eines Ultraschallwellen-Filters, der 50¡¯000 Mal pro Sekunde vibriert und so die Ablagerung von Staub und anderen Partikeln wirkungsvoll verhindert.
Die Lumix G10 kann High-Definition-Videos mit 1.280 x 720 Pixel-Auflösung im Motion-JPEG-Format aufnehmen. Dabei geniesst der Nutzer alle gestalterischen Vorteile der Wechselobjektive und des grossen Sensors mit seinem Schärfentiefespielraum als Gestaltungsmittel. Zusätzlich zum Motion-JPEG-Format mit 1¡¯280 x 720 Pixel-HD-Auflösung sind WVGA-, VGA- und QVGA-Auflösung wählbar. Selbst Anfängern gelingen HD-Videos mit der Lumix G10 problemlos, denn der bei Fotos bewährte «intelligente Automatik»-Modus steht auch f¨¹r Videos zur Verf¨¹gung. Die Gesichtserkennung stimmt Belichtung, Autofokus, Kontrast und Hautton-Wiedergabe auf ihre Ziele ab, so dass diese optimal im Video wiedergegeben werden.

TESLA MISE À FOND SUR LA CONDUITE AUTONOME, TOUT COMME NVIDIA

Tesla avait embauch¨¦ en d¨¦but d'ann¨¦e une ¨¦quipe d'ing¨¦nieurs sp¨¦cialis¨¦s dans la conception de microarchitectures, avec ¨¤ sa t¨ºte Jim Keller, le concepteur des puces AX d'Apple, sp¨¦cifiquement pour d¨¦velopper la conduite autonome. Le constructeur aurait par ailleurs recrut¨¦ de nombreux sp¨¦cialistes de la vision par ordinateur, dont l'un des scientifiques ayant particip¨¦ ¨¤ la conception d'HoloLens.

D'apr¨¨s Electrek, Tesla Vision serait un framework de vision par ordinateur bâti sur la plate-forme logicielle Cuda de Nvidia. Il fonctionnerait d'une mani¨¨re similaire ¨¤ celle pr¨¦sent¨¦e par Nvidia lors de sa derni¨¨re conf¨¦rence, en fusionnant les donn¨¦es de ses diff¨¦rents capteurs (cam¨¦ras, Radar, Lidar...) pour cr¨¦er un environnement virtuel dans lequel le v¨¦hicule naviguerait. Bengaluru: Will you believe your luck when you have lost all hope to get back your stolen items but you suddenly hear news from police it has been recovered in another state? It was a moment of relief for a 25-year-old Ashish Gupta, a photographer and a resident of Indiranagar when almost after two weeks he received information from Tezpur police in Assam about the recovery of his belongings which were stolen by his cook, on October, 2. But to his disappointment, all the excitement fell flat when the Assam police asked Ashish to send a FIR copy and claim the belongings which the latter had not received from the Indiranagar police.

It was a Friday noon when Ashish who was busy with his photo shoot received a call on October, 16 from Tezpur police in Assam. Completely unaware of what the call was all about, a smile soon pervaded on Ashish¡¯s face when he received the news from Tezpur police about the accused cook, Lal Mohan Das, being apprehended by the police.Speaking with DC Ashish said, ¡°I was elated when I received a call from Tezpur police informing me that they have apprehended a person who was found roaming suspiciously on the street carrying a laptop bag. When the police based on suspicion carried out a check, they found my business card on the accused and verified the incident with me. I narrated the sequence of the incident as to how Lal Mohan Das, who was working as a cook-cum-driver with me, ran away with my laptop, iphone, few documents and cash.¡±

He further said, ¡°Upon verifying the details of the belongings which were stolen like the details of the laptop, the serial number printed on the back, to which company it belonged to, cash and my documents, the Tezpur police told me that they are taking Lal Mohan into custody and I can claim my belongings. But, for that I have to send them the FIR or complaint copy,¡± he added.Hoping to get his belongings back Ashish immediately approached the Indiranagar police and briefed them about the progress in the case. ¡°The cops were unmoved again. I told them about the call I had received from the Tezpur police and requested them to at least now register a complaint. But, as expected from the local police, they made me wait for over one hour in the station. When I again inquired as to why they are not registering the plaint, they brushed off the responsibility citing that the inspector is out on rounds and asked me to come back in the evening.¡±

Bengaluru: The killer of 31-year-old IBM techie Kusum Rani, who was strangled to death at her flat in South East Bengaluru on Tuesday, was arrested in Haryana early Thursday by the city police.The arrested has been identified as Sukhbir Singh, 30, a software engineer and a native of Palwal district in Haryana.The accused had worked in Bengaluru with Yahoo India and Accenture between 2011 and 2013, after which he was unemployed, the police said. He is being brought to the city on Thursday by the police.According to the police, Sukhbir got acquainted with Kusum, a divorcee, on social media in late December last year. He had seen her profile in Shaadi.com and sent her a Facebook request on December 31 which Kusum accepted.Later on January 9, they exchanged phone numbers and started talking, the police said.¡°Sukhbir had come down to the city by flight on January 19, on Tuesday, telling Kusum that he had some work in Bengaluru and would meet her at her flat after his work for lunch. Kusum insisted that he make an entry in the security register at the gate,¡± said Dr M.B. Boralingaiah, DCP South East.

Il mondo degli smartphone ¨¨ spesso identificato nell¡¯immaginario collettivo come una categoria di prodotti formata unicamente da soluzioni dal nome ridondante come i noti iPhone di Apple o la linea di soluzioni Galaxy S di Samsung. L'ordine ¨¨ puramente casuale, non si tratta dunque di una classifica ma di una serie di soluzioni secondo noi interessanti per rapporto qualit¨¤ prezzo.La capostipite RX10 ha di fatto "inventato" la categoria delle bridge votate alla qualit¨¤, caratterizzate da sensori ampi e ottiche dalle focali non estreme, ma molto luminose. Questa seconda versione, RX 10 Mark II, ripropone ovviamente la stessa ricetta, che ha gi¨¤ dimostrato di riscuotere molti consensi, migliorando la versione precedente soprattutto in termini di velocit¨¤ operativa.

Grazie soprattutto al nuovo sensore "stacked" con DRAM integrata, infatti, la cadenza di scatto standard ¨¨ raddoppiata, passando da 2.5 a 5 fps (e il buffer ¨¨ stato ampliato), quella massima in Speed Priority raggiunge nientemeno che 14 fps, e sono disponibili funzioni davvero stupefacenti per questa categoria di prodotto, come la possibilit¨¤ di registrare un breve video super slow-motion da 1000 fps in alta risoluzione oppure video 4K @ 30 fps con bitrate fino a 100 Mbps.
Anche il sistema AF ¨¨ stato velocizzato e, che si tratti di messa a fuoco singola o inseguimento, ¨¨ piuttosto difficile trovare qualche pecca da imputargli. Diversamente dalla RX 10 originale, che non aveva diretti concorrenti, per¨°, la RX 10 Mark II si trova a competere con alcuni concorrenti diretti, tra cui citiamo la Panasonic FZ1000 (con la gemella Leica V-Lux Typ 114) e la Canon G3X.

Entrambe le concorrenti utilizzano sensori da 1 pollice da circa 20 Mpixel, e propongono zoom pi¨´ ampi anche se non ad apertura costante - la FZ1000 offre un 25-400mm f/2.8-4, la G3X un 24-600mm f/2.8-5.6.Entrambe, inoltre, vengono proposte a un prezzo sensibilmente inferiore: la Sony ha un prezzo di listino di 1600 Euro e difficilmente si pu¨° trovare online a meno di 1500 Euro, mentre la Canon parte da un listino nell'intorno dei 1000 Euro per arrivare a un prezzo su strada nell'intorno degli 850 Euro, e la Panasonic, anche per il fatto di essere leggermente pi¨´ datata, parte da un prezzo di listino di circa 850 per arrivare a un prezzo su strada nell'intorno dei 650 Euro. In questo scenario, la RX 10 Mark II ¨¨ ancora un buon affare?

HP ha annunciato Elite x2 1012, una nuova soluzione professionale tablet, che non nasconde per nulla la volont¨¤ di fare concorrenza diretta alla famiglia Surface di Microsoft. Nelle intenzioni di HP vi ¨¨ quella di offrire un dispositivo in grado di rimpiazzare PC notebook e desktop, realizzando un prodotto sottile, leggero, ma allo stesso tempo di alta qualit¨¤ costruttiva e dalla elevata resistenza.La scocca ¨¨ realizzata interamente in alluminio ricavata dal pieno e misura solo 8,1 millimetri di spessore, con un peso complessivo della macchina di appena 800 grammi. Tilt back the lid, and there are barely a few millimetres of bezel framing the Dell¡¯s 15.6in display. This looks great (I¡¯m a big fan of teeny, tiny bezels), but it also means the Dell XPS 15 is smaller than laptops with similarly sized displays.

Chinese giant, Xiaomi seems to be gearing up to expand its gadget portfolio with launch of its long-rumored Mi Notebook. A new image surfaced on the web, went viral on Friday revealing the notebook in its full glory.Technology news website Gizmo China revealed the first ever images of the Mi-series notebooks. The design of the device is uncannily similar to Apple¡¯s Macbook Air. The company has long been accused of copying Apple¡¯s design for its smartphones and tablets.The leaks also provide some information about the specifications of the laptop. The Mi Notebook is expected to sport an 11 inch and a 13 inch full HD display with 1080p resolution. The laptop was rumored to ship with an Atom processor, but new leaks suggest that the notebook will run on a Skylake processor. The Mi Notebook will run on Windows 10 and will not feature a touch screen. The device is allegedly set to launch some time before September. Xiaomi aka China¡¯s Apple has been in the smartphone league for quite some time now, the company has also stretched its arms to produce other tech products such as the Ninebot or the Mi drone.xiaomiNow the company has officially launched its Mi Notebook Air in the market alongside its Redmi Pro smartphone. The highlight of the laptop is the discrete graphic card, a feature missing from many ultra-portable laptops available in the market. The 13.3-inch version of the Mi Notebook Air is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor alongside 8GB DDR4 memory. It runs on Windows 10 operating system. It will also offer 256GB PCIe SSD, battery life up to 9.5 hours, AKG and Dolby speakers.The smaller variant comes with a 12.5 inch full HD display and is powered by the Intel Core M3 processor with 4GB of RAM and 128GB SATA SSD. Perch¨¦ facendo questo la nostra preoccupazione ¨¨ che l'esperienza d'uso non sar¨¤ al livello che gli utenti si aspettano. Vogliamo fare il miglior tablet del mondo e il miglior Mac del mondo. E mettere insieme queste due cose non ci permetterebbe di ottenere n¨¦ l'uno, n¨¦ l'altro. Bisognerebbe scendere a troppi compromessi.Ecco quindi che per rispondere alle nuove esigenze di mobilit¨¤ Apple sceglie di percorrere due strade. La prima, intrapresa lo scorso anno, con il debutto del nuovo Macbook, un portatile da 12 pollici, dallo spessore ridottissimo, e da un peso inferiore al chilogrammo. Per quale motivo si dovrebbe ancora comprare un PC? iPad Pro ¨¨ un sostituto del notebook o del desktop per moltissime persone. Inizieranno ad usarlo e si accorgeranno che non avranno pi¨´ bisogno d'altro, se non dei loro telefoni ha sentenziato il CEO di Apple.iPad Pro sar¨¤ in grado, come lo stesso Cook sostiene, di sostituire completamente un personal computer per la maggior parte delle persone?Il 2015 non ¨¨ stato un anno particolarmente entusiasmante per Qualcomm per quanto riguarda la fascia alta di processori per dispositivi mobile. Ci riferiamo naturalmente a Snapdragon 810, il primo SoC della compagnia basato su architettura ARMv8 a 64-bit a non rispettare le aspettative degli appassionati. Progettato sfruttando i processori Cortex di ARM, il microprocessore degli americani ¨¨ stato oscurato soprattutto da Exynos 7420 di Samsung che, grazie soprattutto allo sviluppo a 14-nm, lo superava in performance ed efficienza energetica. Anche MediaTek ha fatto meglio di Qualcomm durante il 2015, con lo Snapdragon 810 che ha rappresentato una soluzione da una parte diffusa, dall'altra fallimentare.

Ogni fascia di prezzo ¨¨ infatti popolata da un numero esagerato di alternative che si differenziano tra loro per particolari a volte praticamente impercettibili o addirittura invisibili agli occhi. I trend da qualche tempo a questa parte sono infatti uguali per tutti: display sempre pi¨´ grandi, fotocamere in grado di riprendere immagini con una qualit¨¤ paragonabile a quella delle comuni compatte e una serie innumerevole di applicazioni adatte a soddisfare ogni nostra richiesta e facilitare la vita di chi le utilizza. Insomma, lo smartphone ¨¨ sempre pi¨´ un compagno di vita da cui diventa impossibile separarsi e per il quale i consumatori sono disposti a spendere cifre anche molto alte.Del resto come in ogni cosa la qualit¨¤ si paga e, a meno di poche eccezioni, anche a caro prezzo. I telefoni top di gamma, quelli all'ultima moda, aggiornati in ogni particolare, sono infatti quelli pi¨´ costosi.

Da qualche tempo a questa parte, tuttavia, troviamo sul mercato una serie di soluzioni in grado di competere direttamente con i dispositivi di punta pur mantenendo un prezzo di qualche centinaio di euro inferiore. Si tratta di smartphone che sono stati a loro volta top di gamma ma che restano ancora ottime soluzioni o che, per scelta dei diversi produttori, vengono posizionati in una fascia di prezzo inferiore proprio per poter competere con la concorrenza spietata del momento.Soluzioni di questo genere sono ormai sempre pi¨´ frequenti e c'¨¨ addirittura chi sostiene che presto il mercato sar¨¤ fatto quasi esclusivamente da smartphone di questa fascia di prezzo, a discapito dei prodotti low cost e di quelli al vertice opposto. Scegliere i prodotti che rientrano secondo noi tra i migliori in questo segmento ¨¨ stata una impresa particolarmente ardua. Ed ¨¨ proprio per questo che Qualcomm vuole dimostrare alla stampa, e soprattutto al pubblico di appassionati, che nel 2016 ¨¨ assolutamente intenzionata a riparare agli errori dell'anno che volge al termine. La societ¨¤ ci ha invitato ad una benchmarking session nella citt¨¤ di Londra per darci un primo assaggio di quello che sar¨¤ il processore pi¨´ usato ed abusato della prossima generazione di smartphone, e le premesse sulla carta sono quelle giuste. Qualcomm ritorna ad un'architettura proprietaria per la CPU, ed anche la GPU sar¨¤ come al solito una Adreno progettata in proprio. In aggiunta Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 sar¨¤ stampato con processo produttivo FinFET a 14-nm da Samsung, fra i migliori processi disponibili su mobile.Della nuova architettura abbiamo gi¨¤ parlato a pi¨´ riprese. La societ¨¤ utilizza i nuovissimi core Kryo che promettono ciascuno prestazioni particolarmente elevate. Per questo motivo la societ¨¤ ha scelto, per Snapdragon 820, una soluzione basata sulla potenza del singolo core, e non specializzata come la concorrenza soprattutto sul calcolo in parallelo. Qualcomm Snapdragon sar¨¤ dunque una soluzione quad-core in cui le unit¨¤ logiche saranno suddivise fra due core a 2,15GHz e due core a 1,6GHz. Differentemente da altre soluzioni di fascia alta, Qualcomm utilizza la stessa architettura per entrambe le CPU, con le differenze che si palesano esclusivamente nella frequenza di clock e nella configurazione della cache integrata.

Dentro Snapdragon 820 si cela anche una GPU di nuova generazione, Adreno 530. Questa supporta tecnologie che fino ad oggi si sono viste solamente nelle soluzioni per desktop, come ad esempio la presenza di una memoria virtuale condivisa con la CPU. L'architettura della parte video supporta Renderscript e OpenCL 2.0, mentre lato grafico ¨¨ previsto il supporto di OpenGL ES 3.1 + AEP e delle API Vulkan per la programmazione a basso livello. Qualcomm non ha rivelato moltissimi dettagli tecnici della GPU di Snapdragon 820, Adreno 530, tuttavia adesso che abbiamo avuto modo di provarla possiamo avere un'idea generale di quello che dovremo attenderci dagli smartphone dell'anno prossimo sul fronte prestazionale.

La MDP/S, la Mobile Development Platform con form factor da smartphone con cui ci ha fatto giocare Qualcomm, ¨¨ sostanzialmente un dispositivo con display da 6,2 a risoluzione 2560x1600 pixel, piuttosto spesso e ingombrante. Se da una parte ¨¨ vero che non pu¨° essere definito tablet, dall'altra non possiamo nemmeno chiamare un device del genere smartphone. Va detto per¨° che durante le nostre prove la MDP/S non ¨¨ mai diventata calda come ad esempio qualche dispositivo con lo Snapdragon 810 in versione finale, quindi possiamo dire che questa versione prototipale ci ha convinto da questo punto di vista. Per una conferma definitiva, per¨°, ci riserviamo una prova pi¨´ approfondita e specifica con dispositivi meno importanti sul versante delle dimensioni.

Nella sala in cui Qualcomm ci ha accolto c'era un frigorifero dal sapore vintage contenente una nutrita serie di bevande. Abbiamo chiesto - che simpatici! - se servisse quello per raffreddare il nuovo SoC e ci hanno risposto sorridendo con un perentorio: Not needed, e noi vogliamo crederci.Nella MDP/S, oltre al SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 troviamo 3GB di RAM LPDDR3, 64GB di memoria di storage UFS, sei microfoni digitali con supporto alla tecnologia Fluence Pro, vari tipi di sensori e una batteria da 3.020mAh. Il SoC integra, oltre alla GPU, un DSP dedicato Hexagon 680 per l'elaborazione in tempo reale delle immagini, in modo da garantire un certo livello di perfromance ed efficienza in questo tipo di incarichi senza pesare troppo sul piano energetico. Sulla piattaforma risiede anche un sensore biometrico per la scansione delle impronte digitali, una microUSB 3.0 Type AB e un cardiofrequenzimetro. In realt¨¤ si tratta di caratteristiche che ci interessano poco al fine di misurare la potenza del nuovo SoC di Qualcomm, tuttavia ci danno un'idea basilare sulla compatibilit¨¤ che lo stesso processore garantisce con tecnologie di varia natura.

Il mercato degli smartphone ¨¨ senza ombra di dubbio uno dei mercati pi¨´ movimentati per quanto riguarda il mondo della tecnologia. Le novit¨¤ si susseguono giornalmente e i vari produttori non possono permettersi di stare a guardare ed esitare nemmeno per un secondo. Ogni giorno le novit¨¤ annunciate o in procinto di esserlo sono moltissime e la battaglia per la testa del mercato ¨¨ sempre pi¨´ avvincente. Centinaia di smartphone differenti vengono lanciati ogni anno e giungono nei negozi creando molto spesso confusione nella mente degli utenti e dei consumatori che sono poi chiamati alla scelta.

Naast Fujitsu werkt ook IBM aan een techniek die de capaciteit naar nieuwe hoogten moet doen stijgen. De HD-divisies van beide bedrijven hebben het moeilijk in verband met de lage marges op harde schijven en het snelle ontwikkelingstempo. Zo zag Fujitsu zich al gedwongen om de 3,5-inch markt vaarwel te zeggen. Op TwoMobile kunnen we lezen dat het bedrijf Estari een nieuw soort laptop heeft ontwikkeld. Het belangrijkste kenmerk van de 2-VU zijn de twee 15 touch-screen LCD-schermen, waarmee de 'laptop' eruit ziet als een electronisch boek. Hij is dan ook vooral bedoeld voor het lezen van documenten. De software draait onder Windows XP, en het apparaat wordt geleverd met DocAble Organizer Professional, programmatuur om het lezen en organiseren van veel documenten te vergemakkelijken. Toshiba Dynabook Qosmio G40 met GeForce 8600M Terwijl AMD al een half jaar worstelt met een fatsoenlijk antwoord op de 8800-serie, heeft nVidia de featureset van deze DirectX 10-kaarten al in een mobiel jasje weten te hijsen. De 8M-kaarten zouden prestatiegewijs vooral vergeleken moeten worden met de G84- en G86-kaarten, waarvan ook de features en de mogelijkheden vergelijkbaar zijn. De performancekroon voor mobiele graphics zou volgens AnandTech voorlopig nog in handen van de GeForce Go 7950 GTX blijven. De specificaties van de nieuwe kaarten maken duidelijk dat nVidia zijn geld niet primair op hoge 3dMark-scores heeft gezet: de 8600M GT, die de beste prestaties zou moeten neerzetten, heeft met 475MHz een opvallend lage corekloksnelheid. De 32 streamprocessors compenseren dat weliswaar, maar dat er later dit jaar een hoger geklokte - en hoger geprijsde - uitvoering van de 8M zal verschijnen, is wel zeker.

Het zijn echter niet de prestaties, maar de prestaties per Watt waarmee de 8M-kaartjes moeten opvallen. De vermogensopname wordt zo laag mogelijk gehouden met dynamisch aangepaste kloksnelheden, het uitschakelen van ongebruikte elektronica met 'Dynamic Clock Gating', en diverse energiezuinige modi. Verder worden H.264-videobestanden inmiddels volledig door de gpu gedecodeerd, wat een flinke energiebesparing bij het afspelen van BD- en hd-dvd-schijven moet opleveren. Volgens de fabrikant zijn de prestaties twee keer zo goed als die van de vorige generatie bij hetzelfde stroomverbruik, maar zolang fatsoenlijke DirectX 10-games uitblijven, is het lastig om die claim op waarde te schatten. Dat de 8M-serie het batterijverbruik van Vista-gebruikers wat zal oprekken, lijdt echter weinig twijfel.

nVidia 'Essential Vista'-logo Naast de 8M-serie presenteerde nVidia, zoals gezegd, ook een serie igp's, die 'Motherboard gpu's' worden genoemd. Hoewel ondersteuning voor DirectX 10 ontbreekt, leveren deze chips wel Shader Model 2.0-support, PureVideo- en PowerMizer-technologie en hardwaredecoders voor hd-video. Door de combinatie van een 'echte' gpu en een nForce-chipset op een en hetzelfde plakje silicium te persen, wil nVidia de minder veeleisende gebruiker van genoeg grafische kracht voor Vista's Aero voorzien, terwijl ook hier weer zuinig met de accu kan worden omgesprongen. Het bedrijf heeft drie combinaties gebakken: een GeForce 7190M (waarvan de kloksnelheid nog niet bekend is gemaakt ) in combinatie met een nForce 650M, een op 425MHz geklokte 7150M-gpu met een 630M-chipset en als instapmodelletje een op 350MHz draaiende 7000M met een nForce 610M.

Tot slot werd ook nog een viertal Quadro's voor zakelijk gebruik aangekondigd. De Quadro NVS 320M geldt als een middenmoter: niet zo krachtig als de 510M, maar met 20W wel bijna de helft zuiniger dan het topmodel uit deze lijn. De NVS 140M, de 135M en de 130M bouwen voort op de al wat oudere 110M en 120M, waarbij de eerste twee opvallen door een 'passief/actief' koelsysteem dat het verbruik van 10W in goede banen moet leiden. Helaas heeft het bedrijf geen informatie over prijzen bekendgemaakt, maar wie snel een van de nieuwe producten in huis wil hebben, kan onder andere al bij Toshiba, Asus en Lenovo terecht.

Computer Planet schrijft: Wie met een laptop door gebieden trekt zonder (goedkope) stroomvoorziening of zich in de trein plots met een lege laptopbatterij geconfronteerd ziet, kan nu nieuw leven in de computer pompen met de Step Charger. Het is letterlijk een soort voetpomp, waarmee je voldoende spanning opwekt om de laptop weer te laten werken, meldt BBC News.

Elle peut au moins compter sur un avantage : le fait qu'elle soit disponible gratuitement ¨¤ n'importe qui (dans une version brid¨¦e), alors que Microsoft Teams ne le sera qu'aux organisations disposant d'un abonnement Office 365 ad¨¦quat.

Mais pourquoi donc les internautes français ne veulent plus voir les publicit¨¦s ? 69% des internautes français ayant install¨¦ un bloqueur de publicit¨¦ l'ont fait car, selon eux, la publicit¨¦ ralentit la navigation. C¡¯est ce que r¨¦v¨¨le une ¨¦tude r¨¦alis¨¦e par Teads. La fluidit¨¦ de navigation est la premi¨¨re raison avanc¨¦e devant le trop grand nombre de publicit¨¦ (66%), le caract¨¨re interruptif ou ennuyeux de celles-ci (65%), l¡¯inqui¨¦tude ¨¤ l¡¯¨¦gard des donn¨¦es personnelles (49%) ou la curiosit¨¦ ¨¤ l¡¯¨¦gard de la technologie (26%).

L¡¯¨¦tude compare ces r¨¦sultats avec les Etats-Unis, o¨´ l'on constate qu¡¯il y a moins de curieux (18% seulement disent vouloir tester la technologie) mais plus d¡¯inquiets (56% craignent pour leur donn¨¦es personnelles).



Les r¨¦sultats par type de terminaux montrent d¡¯¨¦tonnantes divergences. Les utilisateurs d¡¯iPhone sont 80% ¨¤ estimer que la publicit¨¦ ralentit le surf, quand ils ne sont que 69 % parmi les utilisateurs de smartphones Android. Sur les iPad, ils sont 67% ¨¤ trouver qu¡¯il y a trop de publicit¨¦s et sur une tablette Android, 69% trouvent que la publicit¨¦ ralentit la navigation.

Trois utilisateurs d¡¯ordinateurs fixes sur quatre mettent en avant que les publicit¨¦s sont interruptives ou ennuyeuses, quand les utilisateurs d¡¯ordinateurs portables ayant install¨¦ un ad blocker sont 74% ¨¤ d¨¦clarer l¡¯avoir fait parce qu¡¯il y a trop de publicit¨¦s.

Tous les formats de publicit¨¦ ne sont pas bloqu¨¦s de la m¨ºme façon. Sur smartphone ou mobile, ce sont les fen¨ºtres de publicit¨¦ (pop up ads) qui sont d¡¯abord bloqu¨¦s par 70% des utilisateurs, la proportion monte ¨¤ 82% sur les ordinateurs fixes ou portables.

With your email on your laptop's native display and your Excel spreadsheet on the big monitor, there's much less need for Window flipping. A multi-monitor setup like this is the most productive way to work.If you own a Windows laptop this is fortunately very easy to set up. The first step is to determine which type of cable you need. Most modern laptops will have HDMI, DisplayPort, mini-DisplayPort or USB Type-C. If your machine is a few years old, however, you might have only DVI or VGA. The same goes for your monitor.
If the inputs and outputs on the monitor and laptop match, happy days: you can purchase a cable for a few quid ¨C such as this simple HDMI lead on Amazon ¨C and hook the two together.Even if you have a mix of DVI and HDMI, or HDMI and DisplayPort, or even VGA and any of the above, never fear - it's likely that you can still connect, either by using a dual-personality cable (i.e. DVI to VGA or HDMI to DVI), or some kind of adapter or converter. For reference, although there's no hard limit to the maximum resolution of a VGA connection (shown above), we've found that laptop graphics cards often top out around 2,048 x 1,536, and it's worth knowing that images can look softer and less sharp via a VGA cable as it's an analogue rather than a digital connection. A DVI connection is a better bet, partly as it's a digital connection, but even here you still have to be careful: if you want to use resolutions above 1,920 x 1,200, you'll need both a dual-link DVI cable and a dual-link compatible connector on your laptop. Similarly, although the HDMI 1.3 standard added support for monitors and displays which stretch beyond the popular Full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080 pixels), and HDMI 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 now support up to 4K resolutions, both your laptop and monitor will need to support the standard for the connection to work. If you have a laptop with an HDMI 1.2 or earlier port, then you won't be able to push the secondary monitor resolution higher than 1,920 x 1,200.
Displayport is the most flexible connection of the bunch. Even the older DisplayPort 1.1 standard supports up to 4K resolutions at 30hz (this limits the onscreen framerate to a jerky 30fps so, while movies look fine, it isn't suitable for 4K gaming); DisplayPort 1.2 adds support for 4K resolutions at a smooth 60hz; and the most recent standard, DisplayPort 1.3, adds support for 8K resolutions (7,680 x 4,320 pixel). With some laptops, and graphics cards, different outputs will support different resolutions and refresh rates, so it's worth checking which is the most capable before buying any cables or adapters ¨C if you don't, you may end up not getting the highest resolutions and refresh rates out of your monitor or TV.

Dell, qui a rachet¨¦ Ross Systems, a annonc¨¦ en 2014 qu¡¯il rendait ce morceau d¡¯histoire informatique de 3,5 tonnes, au mus¨¦e de Fort Sill. L¨¤-m¨ºme o¨´ la plus grande partie de la machine a ¨¦t¨¦ retrouv¨¦e, rouillant comme une vulgaire vieille carcasse de voiture.
Chaque ann¨¦e les ordinateurs portables sont plus l¨¦gers, plus fins... Mais quid des performances ? Lenovo a entendu cet appel. Le constructeur chinois pr¨¦pare deux stations de travail mobiles ¨¦quip¨¦es des premiers processeurs Xeon pour portables d¨¦velopp¨¦s par Intel.

Les deux mod¨¨les sont dot¨¦s d'un ¨¦cran 4K, d'une carte graphique professionnelle NVidia Quadro et d'un processeur Intel Xeon (mod¨¨le E3-1500M), lui aussi r¨¦serv¨¦ aux applications professionnelles et notamment aux calculs intensifs. Autres avantages d'un tel processeur, les machines peuvent g¨¦rer jusqu'¨¤ 64 Go de RAM ECC et disposent de ports Thunderbolt 3 pour y connecter d'autres ¨¦crans 4K. Le P50 dispose d'un ¨¦cran de 15,6 pouces, contre 17 pouces pour le P70. Ils p¨¨sent respectivement 2,5 et 3,5 kg et seront commercialis¨¦s en fin d'ann¨¦e ¨¤ partir de 1599 et 1999 dollars.

Ces ordinateurs sont les premiers portables ¨¤ b¨¦n¨¦ficier de processeurs Xeon pour la bonne raison qu'Intel n'en produisait pas pour cette gamme de produits jusqu'¨¤ maintenant (ils ¨¦taient limit¨¦s aux serveurs et ordinateurs de bureau). Le fondeur a r¨¦v¨¦l¨¦ leur existence en d¨¦but de semaine. Ils sont bas¨¦s sur la nouvelle architecture Skylake. Avec cette annonce, Intel renforce son offre haut de gamme sur le march¨¦ de l'ordinateur portable, l'un des rares secteurs du march¨¦ PC qui continue de croître.

En mars 2016, l¡¯AFP a ¨¦t¨¦ victime de deux tentatives avec le ransomware Locky qu¡¯elle a d¨¦jou¨¦ sans payer la rançon. A côt¨¦ de ces proc¨¦d¨¦s reposant sur du chiffrement, il existe d¡¯autres proc¨¦d¨¦s apparent¨¦s sans utilisation de produits cryptographiques qui par exemple, orientent la victime vers des num¨¦ros gratuits mais qui sont en r¨¦alit¨¦ surtax¨¦s ou de faux techniciens supports de Microsoft qui imitent des pages d¡¯erreurs et bloquent l¡¯ordinateur avec une prise de contrôle ¨¤ distance par le biais de Team Viewer.

Parmi les ransomwares les plus connus, on peut citer Cryptowall (actuellement la V.4.0) ou TeslaCrypt, et plus r¨¦cemment Samsam qui s¡¯attaque aux serveurs utilisant Jboss.

Il cuore della piattaforma hardware ¨¨ costituito dal processore Intel Core i7-6700HQ con architettura quad-core e tecnologia Hyper-threading. I quattro core operano ad una frequenza di 2,6 GHz e possono raggiungere una frequenza massima di 3.5 GHz in modalit¨¤ Turbo Boost. Si tratta di un processore con TDP pari a 45 Watt, valore indubbiamente elevato per un componente destinato all¡¯integrazione in un portatile, ma, come si dir¨¤ in seguito, il sistema di smaltimento del calore si ¨¨ dimostrato molto efficiente.Trattandosi di un dispositivo orientato ai videogiocatori, ¨¨ importante esaminare la sezione che incider¨¤ maggiormente nella gestione del software ludico ed ¨¨ subito opportuno sottolineare che ASUS ROG GL552VW integra una soluzione non di fascia alta.La GeForce GTX 960M ¨¨ un modello da tempo disponibile sul mercato, basato su GPU GM107 con architettura Maxwell di prima generazione che dialoga con i 4 GB di RAM GDDR5 (di produzione Samsung nell¡¯esemplare testato). Asus ROG GL552V alterna in automatico (ma ¨¨ possibile intervenire anche in modalit¨¤ manuale) l¡¯utilizzo della scheda GeForce GTX 960M con la scheda grafica integrata Intel HD Graphics 530 quando non ¨¨ richiesta un¡¯eccessiva potenza di calcolo. Un accorgimento che permette di contenere il consumo di batteria quando non serve spingere l¡¯acceleratore sulle prestazioni, ad esempio durante il web browsing Il sistema Leica M ¨¨ da sempre sinonimo di essenzialit¨¤. Quando, tra il 1985 e il 1986, prima Minolta, poi Canon e quindi Nikon presentarono a brevissima distanza i loro primi modelli autofocus, le strade tra le reflex nipponiche e la telemetro tedesca, gi¨¤ diverse, presero direzioni diametralmente opposte: le prime sempre pi¨´ sofisticate e ricche di funzioni elettroniche; la seconda, ostinatamente fedele a s¨¦ stessa, anche dopo il passaggio al digitale.

Ogni anno i grossi colossi del settore degli smartphone si confrontano con line-up ormai consolidate: sul fronte Android Samsung ha la sua gamma di dispositivi Galaxy S, HTC i suoi One M, Sony i modelli della serie Xperia Z e prossimamente gli Xperia X. Poi c'¨¨ LG che affronta il mercato con i suoi dispositivi "serie G", di cui abbiamo visto al Mobile World Congress l'ultima iterazione nota come LG G5. Durante lo scorso anno, per¨°, la societ¨¤ ha annunciato una proposta parallela ai suoi canonici top di gamma, LG V10, caratterizzato da una peculiarit¨¤ non troppo comune sul fronte degli smartphone: il doppio display "always-on", sempre acceso.Se sul piano hardware LG V10 appare molto simile al fratellino minore G4, ¨¨ proprio la presenza del doppio display che differenzia decisamente i due smartphone, oltre ad un pannello LCD IPS sensibilmente pi¨´ grande con diagonale da 5,7". Quest'ultimo supporta una risoluzione nativa da 2560x1440 pixel, quindi Quad HD, mentre il piccolo pannello always-on si ferma a 160x1040 pixel. È inserito poco sopra rispetto al principale, proprio come prolungamento di quest'ultimo, e appena sulla sinistra si trova il doppio modulo per la fotocamera frontale, anche questa una feature abbastanza innovativa e sicuramente "sui generis".

La parte superiore risulta cos¨¬ molto complessa sul piano strutturale, e la presenza del display secondario obbliga ovviamente ad alcuni compromessi. Si perde, in altre parole, l'eccellente rapporto screen-to-body tipico della famiglia "G", con la parte superiore delle cornici (incluso il doppio schermo) che ¨¨ molto pi¨´ pronunciata rispetto a quella inferiore. In pi¨´, lo smartphone ¨¨ pi¨´ spesso e pesante rispetto alla media della categoria da 5,7", caratteristiche che purtroppo si sentono durante l'uso quotidiano. Lo spessore ¨¨ di circa 8,6mm, mentre il peso sfiora i 200g. Il tutto con una batteria integrata "standard" da 3.000mAh, non troppo generosa se consideriamo la diagonale del display.
Sotto la scocca LG V10 dispone di un processore Qualcomm Snapdragon 808, esa-core da 1,8GHz per la CPU dual-core principale. Il SoC ¨¨ supportato da un quantitativo di ben 4 gigabyte di RAM LPDDR3. Lo smartphone supporta le reti 4G LTE Cat. 6, quindi consente una velocit¨¤ massima teorica di 300Mbps in download e 50Mbps in upload, rete e operatore permettendo. Come al solito nella line-up di fascia alta di LG sono estremamente ricercate le fotocamere: la principale, installata posteriormente nella parte centrale dello smartphone, usa un sensore da 16 megapixel grande 1/2,61" con obiettivo con apertura f/1.8 stabilizzato.

LG V10 mantiene anche l'ottimo auto-focus al laser del G4, affidabile e rapidissimo, con il modulo posteriore che viene assistito da un Flash LED e una modalit¨¤ manuale che consegna una grande possibilit¨¤ di manovra durante lo scatto. Sotto la fotocamera troviamo tre tasti, due per la selezione del volume e un altro che funge da accensione/spegnimento e ha anche un lettore di impronte. Durante le nostre prove ci ¨¨ sembrato molto rapido nel riconoscimento dell'impronta, anche se a volte - non di rado - ci ha chiesto di ripetere l'operazione perch¨¦ non riusciva ad eseguire il match del dito con l'impronta salvata sul dispositivo.

Molto interessante anche la fotocamera frontale, da 5 megapixel e con due obiettivi, uno f/2.0 con campo visivo da 80¡ã e l'altro f/2.2 con campo visivo da 120¡ã. L'utente potr¨¤ scegliere quale utilizzare durante lo scatto, se vuole selfie tradizionali con il viso in primo piano, o selfie "grandangolari" in cui viene ripresa anche buona parte del paesaggio. La qualit¨¤ dei moduli ¨¨ comunque discreta e non ci aspettiamo di certo miracoli.
Decisamente gradevole a nostro avviso il design del nuovo dispositivo. Sobrio e senza troppi fronzoli, LG V10 vanta una piacevole finitura gommata sia nella parte frontale che nella cover rimovibile posteriore che ha una trama a piccoli rombi che viene suddivisa in otto quadrati pi¨´ grandi. Il materiale utilizzato dai sudcoreani ¨¨ noto come Dura Skin, sulla carta il doppio pi¨´ duro della plastica e 10 volte pi¨´ resistente dell'alluminio. Ai lati invece troviamo due appendici in acciaio inossidabile 316L che aumentano la robustezza del dispositivo dando anche un tocco sportivo al suo aspetto estetico. Togliendo il pannello posteriore si ha accesso alla batteria, che ¨¨ quindi removibile, e allo slot di nano-SIM e microSD, per la connessione alle reti mobile e per espandere lo storage integrato che ¨¨ di 32GB. Di questi ultimi al primo avvio ne troveremo circa 22 disponibili per l'uso.

Ci sono due questioni che vanno affrontate attraverso la prova del nuovo router LTE di AVM, ovvero l'apprezzatissima societ¨¤ tedesca esperta ormai da diversi anni nella realizzazioni di soluzioni di connettivit¨¤. La prima riguarda l'effettiva efficacia della connessione LTE all'interno delle mura domestiche e quindi le sue prestazioni di penetrazione negli edifici e nei vari tipi di materiali. LTE costituisce un netto miglioramento rispetto alle tecnologie di precedente generazione, come UMTS, sotto diversi punti di vista, come l'efficienza spettrale, le velocit¨¤ di trasferimento e RTT (Round Trip Time).La conclusione ¨¨ abbastanza semplice da questo punto di vista, ma la dettaglieremo ulteriormente nel corso dell'articolo: LTE costituisce un netto miglioramento rispetto alle precedenti tecnologie di connettivit¨¤ mobile, ma non pu¨° essere considerata come surrogato dell'ADSL. Le prestazioni sono ancora inferiori nella maggior parte dei casi: non sul piano teorico, per¨°, visto che LTE in condizioni ideali potrebbe arrivare fino a 326,4 Mbit/s. Poi, si sa, in ambito connettivit¨¤ tutto dipende dallo stato della rete, dalla congestione e dall'affollamento delle celle a cui si ¨¨ collegati e dalla loro gestione.

No ser¨¢ un superventas, desde luego, y de hecho parece m¨¢s una operaci¨®n de imagen con la que MSI quiere plantear c¨®mo ven el mundo gaming llevado al extremo. Lo est¨¢n haciendo muy bien en sus otros equipos - recordad los an¨¢lisis de los GS70, GE60 y GS60 - pero el GT80 es algo muy diferente, fuera de lo normal y que incluso no tiene sentido en un mercado lineal y con muy pocos cambios como es el de los port¨¢tiles. Sinceramente, parece mucho m¨¢s atractiva la opci¨®n de comprar un teclado mec¨¢nico USB y conectarlo a tu port¨¢til gaming 'normal', y no tanto hacer que el teclado se integre junto a la carcasa. Como nota curiosa, MSI incluir¨¢ un reposamuñecas con el que salvar los cent¨ªmetros de elevaci¨®n que tiene el GT80.

M¨¢s grande, muy potente y desorbitadamente caro. As¨ª es MSI GT80 'Titan'. La compañ¨ªa nos ha asegurado que aunque a¨²n no tienen una fecha concreta - dependen del ritmo de fabricaci¨®n en China - tienen la intenci¨®n de empezar a vender las primeras unidades en febrero o marzo.Nota: las caracter¨ªsticas que hemos apuntado en la tabla son las que nos indic¨® MSI en la presentaci¨®n. Difieren de las marcadas en la web oficial, donde existen dos modelos SLI-001 y SLI-009; sin embargo, el fabricante nos asegur¨® que a España llegar¨¢ el modelo cuyas especificaciones son las que hemos apuntado en este art¨ªculo.

Cuando hablamos de tecnolog¨ªas que intentan mejorar la autonom¨ªa de nuestros dispositivos, nos encontramos con el hidr¨®geno como una de las soluciones de futuro. Nos hemos acostumbrado a hablar sobre ella como una de las alternativas en el mundo de los coches, con ejemplos bien reconocidos por parte de Honda o Toyota.

De serie nos encontraremos con Windows 8.1 Pro preinstalado pero una vez est¨¦ disponible Windows 10 podremos dar el salto sin ning¨²n problema y sin necesidad de pagar nada. Al venir con el hardware apropiado, podremos usar Cortana y el nuevo soporte para WiFi sin ning¨²n problema.En cuanto a conectividad y soporte de dispositivos nos encontramos con la ya cl¨¢sica distribuci¨®n de puertos USB 3.0 y conector HDMI para sacar la señal de v¨ªdeo y audio a otra pantalla. De entre todo eso hay un elemento que llama mucho la atenci¨®n: el soporte para Millennial Discs.Este tipo de discos, que nada tiene que ver con el fen¨®meno social, es un tipo de disco DVD o BluRay con un tratamiento especial que le permite aguantar el paso del tiempo de una forma incre¨ªble, 1000 años para ser precisos. ¿C¨®mo funciona? Es un gran misterio ya que toda la informaci¨®n la tiene registrada una empresa como secreto industrial y la patente que tienen p¨²blica no da muchos datos.

Sorprende que decidan dar soporte a una tecnolog¨ªa de este tipo y que no incluyan, por ejemplo USB Type-C que a d¨ªa de hoy parece que tiene m¨¢s proyecci¨®n que un tipo de discos ¨®pticos muy concretos.A pesar de ser un modelo tope de gama, Toshiba vuelve a apostar un por un precio comedido: 999 euros para la configuraci¨®n m¨¢s b¨¢sica y 1.199 para la m¨¢s avanzada. Es el caso de dos profesores que prohibieron el uso de port¨¢tiles en clase durante todo un semestre lectivo, y que en sus conclusiones dej¨® claros los resultados: los estudiantes que tomaron apuntes a mano obtuvieron mejores resultados que otros a los que se les permiti¨® el uso de port¨¢tiles. Y la mejora fue consistente y generalizada.Varios estudios ya revelaban desde hace tiempo que los estudiantes que usan port¨¢tiles en clase acaban teniendo ante s¨ª toda una fuente de distracciones que les hace convertirse en personas multitarea que, eso s¨ª, no retienen de forma tan consistente el contenido de las clases.En el experimento de estos investigadores hizo que 327 estudiantes en tres campus universitarios distintos tomaran apuntes -unos con port¨¢til, otros sin- sobre una serie de charlas TED de las que luego les hac¨ªan preguntas tanto conceptuales como concretas.

Aunque en las preguntas sobre temas concretos las respuestas fueron igual de buenas para los dos grandes grupos de estudiantes, las respuestas a preguntas conceptuales fueron mejor contestadas de forma consistente por estudiantes que hab¨ªan tomado notas a mano. No solo eso: en un test sorpresa realizado 10 d¨ªas despu¨¦s del primero y hecho con los mismos alumnos los resultados fueron m¨¢s all¨¢, y esas notas manuscritas permitieron a los alumnos que las hab¨ªan tomado obtener mejores resultados que los que hab¨ªan usado port¨¢tiles.Raspberry Pi ha demostrado ser una plataforma a tener en cuenta para desarrollar equipos electr¨®nicos de bajo coste como set top box para el televisor o incluso consolas port¨¢tiles. Si esto os sabe a poco y ten¨¦is una impresora 3D, con Pi-Top podr¨¦is montaros un ordenador port¨¢til de trece pulgadas.

Este kit incluye todo lo necesario para convertir una Raspberry Pi modelo B+ en un port¨¢til de trece pulgadas. M¨¢s all¨¢ de crear un ordenador potente para sustituir al que usamos a diario, el objetivo de Pi-Top pasa por enseñar c¨®mo se monta un port¨¢til y la posibilidad de que cualquiera lo pueda hacer con los materiales apropiados y sin hacer un desembolso econ¨®mico importante.El proyecto dar¨¢ el salto dentro de poco a Kickstarter donde podremos hacernos con ¨¦l y ayudar a sus creadores a sacarlo adelante. La ¨²nica pega es que necesitaremos el ¨²ltimo modelo de Raspberry Pi y, de momento, no parece que podremos utilizar los modelos anteriores de placa.En NVIDIA nos dieron la sorpresa reciente de ofrecer la nueva consola NVIDIA Shield basada en Android y capaz de ofrecer salida 4K, pero parece que esa no es la ¨²nica apuesta en un segmento que NVIDIA se resiste a dejar escapar. De hecho los ¨²ltimos datos apuntan al lanzamiento de una nueva versi¨®n de su consola port¨¢til con el mismo nombre.

No encontramos la misma puesta en pr¨¢ctica en gadgets, pero tenemos constancia de patentes que recogen la posibilidad, y alg¨²n que otro accesorio que ha ido apareciendo en el mercado - Upp - sin demasiado ¨¦xito y mucho camino por recorrer. El estado actual de su desarrollo es el que hemos podido ver en el accesorio Upp, como una bater¨ªa adicional que ha sido probada en Nigeria y Reino Unido, y pronto llegar¨¢ a India.

El ¨²nico residuo que obtendremos es agua, algo que tambi¨¦n habr¨ªa que saber gestionar en un dispositivo comercial.

La compañ¨ªa tiene intenci¨®n de tener un port¨¢til y un tel¨¦fono con su tecnolog¨ªa de bater¨ªas lista en alg¨²n momento de 2017, o 2018. Otro episodio m¨¢s en el esperanzador mundo de las alternativas energ¨¦ticas y su puesta en pr¨¢ctica real, apuntaremos en el calendario las fechas, y ya veremos en qu¨¦ queda todo esto.Hoy en d¨ªa la electricidad es un requisito importante de las operaciones militares, y la falta de fuentes de energ¨ªa en los emplazamientos en los que se sit¨²an bases limitares puede ser motivo suficiente para cambiar planes y estrategias. Ahora el ej¨¦rcito de los Estados Unidos ha desvelado un singular sistema que precisamente permite comportarse como una central el¨¦ctrica port¨¢til especialmente eficiente.

El sistema se denomina Energy Informed Operations (EIO) microgrid y en realidad el secreto no est¨¢ en esa capacidad de proporcionar energ¨ªa, sino en su gesti¨®n con la mayor eficiencia posible. Eso hace que los militares puedan evitar malgastar combustible y energ¨ªa mientras crean bases de operaciones, por ejemplo.Los portavoces del ej¨¦rcito indican que el sistema ya ha sido evaluado -hicieron una prueba reciente entre el 13 y el 24 de abril en Fort Leonard Wood, en Missouri- y creen que es capaz de dar servicio a entre 50 y 1.000 personas aprovechando esas t¨¦cnicas que reducen consumos al m¨ªnimo en cada momento.Aunque estas redes el¨¦ctricas en miniatura no son tecnolog¨ªa punta, s¨ª que lo son esos sistemas para la optimizaci¨®n del consumo de combustible, agua o la reducci¨®n tambi¨¦n del agua malgastada en ese tipo de operaciones. El sistema lleva ya años en desarrollo y aunque a¨²n siguen sus pruebas de evaluaci¨®n, los responsables de dicho sistema han destacado el buen comportamiento del EOI Microgrid en las operaciones en las que se ha ido probando.

Hace unos meses que Microsoft y Samsung mantienen una buena relaci¨®n, y de hecho hemos visto como el fabricante de dispositivos m¨®viles ha preinstalado varias aplicaciones y servicios de los de Redmond en sus Galaxy S6 y Galaxy S6 Edge. Las cosas podr¨ªan ir a m¨¢s tras conocerse una nueva patente de Samsung que buscar¨ªa una combinaci¨®n m¨¢s fuerte entre sus phablets y unos futuros port¨¢tiles-dock.Una patente registrada a finales de 2014 revela que Samsung ha tenido una nueva idea para combinar Android y Windows: un phablet basado en Android por defecto podr¨ªa comenzar a funcionar con Windows en cuanto fuese conectado a la base del port¨¢til. Ese equipo estar¨ªa pr¨¢cticamente vac¨ªo de componentes, y ser¨ªa el smartphone el que ofrecer¨ªa la mayor parte de las prestaciones hardware para combinar la versatilidad de Android y portabilidad de un phablet con la productividad que ser¨ªamos capaces de alcanzar en un port¨¢til de estas caracter¨ªsticas.

El concepto nos suena, y mucho: ASUS ha tratado de explotarlo en su gama Transformer (y antes en la gama PadFone). Vimos ese combo Android-Windows de tablet/port¨¢til hace poco gracias al ASUS Transformer Book Trio pero la expresi¨®n m¨¢xima de ese concepto es el ASUS Transformer Book V que permite utilizar cinco combinaciones distintas de smartphone, tablet y port¨¢til.La idea de Samsung es ligeramente distinta ya que Android y Windows residir¨ªan en el mismo dispositivo, y aunque una de las plataformas seguras es Android, en la patente dejan la puerta abierta a Tizen como segunda opci¨®n. Otro de los puntos interesantes es que el port¨¢til solo cuenta con teclado y pantalla, pero no con trackpad. Esa ausencia se explica porque al conectarlo a la base del port¨¢til, el smartphone de esa curiosa combinaci¨®n se convierte en un peculiar trackpad mientras se carga y est¨¢ conectado aportando esa productividad en un entorno Windows.

No es la primera vez que Samsung intenta algo as¨ª -puede que record¨¦is sus ATIV Q- pero esta idea tiene sentido por un motivo especial: la llegada de Windows 10 y de esa prometedora convergencia parece habilitar este tipo de productos y concederles m¨¢s sentido del que ten¨ªan hasta ahora. No es que las gamas Transformer de ASUS hayan sido un ¨¦xito arrollador, pero desde luego se trata de soluciones muy interesantes para cierto tipo de usuarios a los que ahora Samsung parece querer ofrecer otra alternativa.Los Chromebooks de Google han ido ganando terreno en las aulas estadounidenses en los ¨²ltimos años, y ahora un nuevo informe de Futuresource Consulting parece dejar claro que ese avance se ha consolidado en los ¨²ltimos meses.

Seg¨²n esos datos los Chromebooks ya representan m¨¢s de la mitad de los equipos que se adquieren en las clases de los colegios de Estados Unidos, cuando ese porcentaje era tan solo del 1% en 2012. Apple ha pasado del 52% al 24% de cuota y Microsoft del 42% al 24%. Incluso Google est¨¢ sorprendida por ese ¨¦xito.Rajen Sheth, responsable del programa de Android y Chrome en empresas y educaci¨®n, afirmaba que ha sido incre¨ªble para nosotros ver c¨®mo ese crecimiento se produc¨ªa en un periodo tan coro de tiempo. Este directivo, al que muchos califican como padre de las Google Apps, ha logrado impulsar el uso de estos dispositivos de forma notable.

De hecho de los 8,9 millones de dispositivos vendidos en las aulas, 4,4 millones eran Chromebooks. O lo que es lo mismo: cada d¨ªa se activan 30.000 de estos port¨¢tiles de bajo coste en los colegios estadounidenses. El esfuerzo de Google no se centra ¨²nicamente en los Chromebooks, sino en ofrecer su tienda espec¨ªfica para entornos educativos, Google Play for Education, que dispone de aplicaciones y libros seleccionados por profesores y pedagogos para ayudar y apoyar las tareas educativas.La conquista de las aulas por parte de los Chromebooks y del sistema operativo Chrome OS es singular, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que el debate sobre la privacidad era especialmente delicado en este ¨¢mbito. Google ya se comprometi¨® a no escanear las cuentas de Gmail de los estudiantes, pero recientemente volvieron a aparecer acusaciones de la EFF sobre los potenciales riesgos para la privacidad de los usuarios de estos equipos.

Hace un par de semanas Toshiba present¨® la renovaci¨®n de sus ordenadores port¨¢til. En total 28 modelos para actualizar la gama de consumo (media y media alta). Lo m¨¢s destacable de todos estos equipos era la actualizaci¨®n en hardware para prepararse ante la inminente llegada de de Windows 10.Esto se traduce en meter un micr¨®fono dual para el reocnocimiento de voz con Cortana y un la introducci¨®n de WiFi A/C. Ahora bien, de todos esos modelos hay uno que destaca sobre todos y es el que deber¨ªa servir de referencia este año para el fabricante japon¨¦s. El elegido en 2015 es el Satellite P50-C y con ¨¦l quieren intentar ganarle el trono a HP en España.

Por especificaciones, el Satellite P50-C es un port¨¢til de gama alta. En el procesador nos encontramos con un Intel Core i7 o un AMD A10 seg¨²n la configuraci¨®n. Misma situaci¨®n para la tarjeta gr¨¢fica donde podemos elegir entre una GeForce 930M o una GTX950M con hasta 4GB de RAM.En cuanto al almacenamiento, de nuevo, varias opciones: SSD de 256 GB, disco duro de 2TB o una unidad h¨ªbrida de 1TB en la que se combinan las dos principales tecnolog¨ªas de almacenamiento para ofrecer la capacidad de un disco duro y la velocidad de una unidad de estado s¨®lido.
En la pantalla apuestan por dos variantes: Full HD para los modelos m¨¢s b¨¢sicos o UHD 4K si queremos la configuraci¨®n con m¨¢s resoluci¨®n. Es decir, 3.840x2.160 p¨ªxeles en una diagonal de 15,6 pulgadas. En el cuerpo tendremos el pl¨¢stico como material principal y un peso un 20% inferior al modelo anterior.
