Es as¨ª como lo vienen presentando y con quienes se comparan en el mercado, por muchos debates que queramos tener sobre si fue antes el huevo (port¨¢til) o la gallina (tablet). La versi¨®n que hemos analizado (con un micro i5 y ocho gigas de RAM) ha costado mucho llevarla a un cierto calentamiento, pero cuando lo hemos logrado s¨ª que ha resultado algo inc¨®modo. Microsoft apunta a un sistema de refrigeraci¨®n h¨ªbrido: uno pasivo que se encargar de repartir el calor por todo el chasis cuando no ponemos la CPU al m¨¢ximo y con el que se consigue mucho menos ruido; otro activo que se enciende cuando se llega a cierto nivel de calor, m¨¢s ruidoso y que s¨®lo hemos conseguido notar en videojuegos y, eso s¨ª, cuando alg¨²n proceso de Windows se ha quedado atascado consumiendo recursos.En esto hay una parte que tenemos que reconocer a Intel el trabajo con Skylake y a Microsoft por saber esperar y saltarse Broadwell, buena decisi¨®n. Continua siendo marca de la casa el cada vez m¨¢s imitado kickstand, que con su flexibilidad de ¨¢ngulos soportados consigue que nos podamos olvidar de perder ¨¢ngulos de trabajo frente a un port¨¢til de factor forma tradicional. LA PANTALLA DEL NUEVO SURFACE PRO 4 ES FÁCIL DE RESUMIR: UNA PASADA. POR BRILLO, CONTRASTE, FIDELIDAD DE COLOR Y RESOLUCIÓN La pantalla del nuevo Surface Pro 4 es f¨¢cil de resumir: una pasada. Por brillo, contraste, fidelidad de color y resoluci¨®n. Los blancos realmente blancos, los negros muy negros, una gran experiencia sin perderse en esa tendencia a la saturaci¨®n.MI ÚNICA DUDA RESPECTO A LA PANTALLA ES SI ES DEMASIADO BUENA: UNA RESOLUCIÓN MENOR Y MENOS PÍXELES POR PULGADAS NOS HUBIERAN LLEVADO A MENOS CONSUMO Y CREO QUE MUCHOS USUARIOS LO HUBIÉSEMOS PREFERIDO Nos hemos ido con el Pro 4 a una resoluci¨®n de 2736x1824 mientras que el ratio es 3:2 (ojo, para el consumo multimedia no es precisamente el m¨¢s indicado) y a una densidad de 267 p¨ªxeles por pulgada. Mi ¨²nica duda es si la pantalla es demasiado buena: una resoluci¨®n menor y menos p¨ªxeles por pulgadas nos hubieran llevado a menos consumo y creo que muchos usuarios lo hubi¨¦semos preferido. Puestos a trabajar con el Surface Pro 4 lo primero que hay que asumir es que este dispositivo no tiene sentido sin su complemento por excelencia: la type cover.Mucho ha mejorado el teclado, ahora la respuesta es muy buena, hay espacio entre las teclas y mantienen las dos posiciones (plano y con cierta inclinaci¨®n). Para escribir un gran paso que coloca a la Pro 4 al nivel de port¨¢tiles de gama alta de tamaño similar, aunque sin mesa donde apoyarlo sigue perdiendo un poco cuando lo tenemos sobre las piernas y toca trabajar de esa forma. LA EVALUACIÓN DE LA EXPERIENCIA CON EL INTERFAZ HACIA EL DISPOSITIVO SI TENEMOS EN CUENTA TODAS LAS POSIBILIDADES ES DE NOTABLE ALTO: SÓLO SI UNO QUIERE PRIORIZAR DE FORMA ABSOLUTA EL TRACKPAD DEBERÍA PENALIZAR AL SURFACE PRO 4

Esta necesidad contin¨²a existiendo y, de hecho, las tarjetas gr¨¢ficas externas han continuado desarroll¨¢ndose, generalmente con un acierto escaso pero siempre con la intenci¨®n de revitalizar un mercado que ha variado mucho. Y hoy son nuestras protagonistas: las tarjetas gr¨¢ficas externas, entre la utop¨ªa y la realidad con una dosis de bricolaje.Corr¨ªa el año 2008 cuando habl¨¢bamos de ellas, por entonces como unos perif¨¦ricos que los diferentes fabricantes estaban preparando para asaltar al mundo gaming. En aquella ¨¦poca las GPU de los port¨¢tiles eran dedicadas y m¨¢s o menos pod¨ªan defenderse con los videojuegos, o eran integradas y entonces no val¨ªan para... nada. Las gr¨¢ficas externas supon¨ªan un halo de esperanza para la comunidad gaming que por entonces prefer¨ªa el juego en port¨¢til. Los hab¨ªa por entonces, y los sigue habiendo ahora. Algo tan sencillo como un accesorio que conect¨¢bamos al ordenador, y entonces pod¨ªamos disfrutar de los videojuegos. Tan sencillo como esto. Hemos estado hablando de un per¨ªodo relativamente lejano en el tiempo, casi diez años atr¨¢s. Desde entonces los fabricantes han continuado desarrollando tarjetas gr¨¢ficas externas que, sin ser su producto estrella.En los años m¨¢s recientes, y a¨²n disponibles en muchos distribuidores, hemos visto productos de Alienware o el MSI GS30 Ghost, en ambos casos productos muy espec¨ªficos. Como referencia, el GS30 (13.3 pulgadas, Core i7, 8 GB RAM, SSD 256 GB) se vende en PC Componentes por 1.700 euros y la caja de Alienware por 325 euros, y tanto uno como el otro no incluyen la tarjeta gr¨¢fica que deberemos comprar por separado.
Este tipo de productos est¨¢n enfocados a un perfil de usuario muy concreto, y que est¨¦ dispuesto a realizar un fuerte desembolso econ¨®mico que muchas veces supera al coste de un port¨¢til igual de potente, o m¨¢s. Desde hace casi diez años no han cesado de llegar nuevos productos y este mercado sigue movi¨¦ndose, pero muy t¨ªmidamente, con ciertas innovaciones y movimientos de algunas empresas, pero son puntuales y comedidos, limitados a s¨®lo algunos modelos, caros y que, m¨¢s en general, no logran cautivar a los usuarios.Sin embargo, el p¨²blico demanda tarjetas gr¨¢ficas externas, y como ve ciertas desventajas en lo que existe en el mercado pues se dedica a montar sus modelos. El bricolaje es un punto clave, y sobre ¨¦l pasamos a hablar. Aqu¨ª entramos en un terreno fangoso, porque con la palabra bricolaje nos referimos a que tendr¨¢s que hacer buena parte del trabajo por tu propia cuenta. Y no todo el mundo sabe, ni puede, ni quiere hacerlo.Pero la realidad es que existen m¨²ltiples tutoriales que te ayudan a montarte tu propia tarjeta gr¨¢fica externa, como este de LifeHacker de 2011, esta gu¨ªa de NotebookCheck de 2014 o esta otra de BlenderNation de 2015, basada en v¨ªdeo. Incluso hay un hilo en Reddit que trata el tema con el que llegamos a estas 1.193 p¨¢ginas de comentarios en Notebook Review.Hay movimiento por parte de la comunidad, y el com¨²n denominador de todas estas iniciativas es que se requiere de unos conocimientos m¨ªnimos en la materia. Conocer interfaces y c¨®mo funcionan a nivel el¨¦ctrico, as¨ª como por supuesto el funcionamiento de un ordenador. A algunos usuarios les ha funcionado el invento, a otros no. Tomemos como ejemplo el siguiente v¨ªdeo, que muestra c¨®mo funciona un adaptador del que os hablaremos m¨¢s adelante:Conectar el adaptador a un mini-PCI Express del port¨¢til. El v¨ªdeo menciona que en algunos casos s¨®lo existe una de estas conexiones en el port¨¢til y que est¨¢n ocupadas, con lo que es necesario modificar la configuraci¨®n original del equipo. El adaptador de marras que hace de 'puente' entre la gr¨¢fica externa y el port¨¢til. Este de BangGood vale 45 euros y es una de las opciones mejor valoradas y con mejor precio que he encontrado.

Y precisamente como hay EN EL FUTURO, OCULINK ES LA MAYOR ESPERANZA QUE TIENEN LAS TARJETAS GRÁFICAS EXTERNAS Adem¨¢s de OCuLink, la otra gran v¨ªa de desarrollo que existe en la actualidad la est¨¢ manejando Intel, se basa en Thunderbolt 3 y algo han mostrado de ella en la presentaci¨®n de la interfaz, el pasado mes de junio. A d¨ªa de hoy las tarjetas gr¨¢ficas externas son una utop¨ªa para el gran p¨²blico, que con la salvedad de OCuLink - recuerdo, un desarrollo actual que a¨²n tendr¨¢ que evolucionar y ya veremos c¨®mo termina - y lo que Intel tenga entre manos, apenas tienen productos en el mercado. El futuro, ya se ver¨¢. Hace unos tres años me compr¨¦ la primera versi¨®n del Surface Pro. Esta caracter¨ªstica puede ser muy ¨²til en todo tipo de escenarios, y ahora llega a Windows 10.La compilaci¨®n 10565 del sistema operativo de Microsoft que la empresa puso a disposici¨®n de los usuarios esta semana llega con mejoras interesantes en diversos apartados, pero tambi¨¦n en este: ya es posible acceder a la opci¨®n de Encontrar mi dispositivo con esta plataforma.Esta soluci¨®n plantea esa funci¨®n para ordenadores de sobremesa y port¨¢tiles, pero obviamente en Microsoft est¨¢n planteando esa mejora como parte fundamental de su propuesta en dispositivos m¨®viles. La activaci¨®n de esta caracter¨ªstica se realiza desde el apartado de Configuraci¨®n -> Actualizaci¨®n y Seguridad -> Encuentra mi dispositivo. En ese punto podremos pulsar sobre el bot¨®n Guardar la localizaci¨®n de mi dispositivo peri¨®dicamente para habilitar una funci¨®n que har¨¢ uso del posicionamiento GPS -en port¨¢tiles y sobremesas la localizaci¨®n se puede estimar en base a otros par¨¢metros- para que en caso de que lo necesitamos podamos localizar nuestro equipo con Windows 10 sin problemas.La mayor¨ªa de ordenadores port¨¢tiles est¨¢n acompañados de transformadores para cargar sus bater¨ªas que son ciertamente voluminosos, algo que podr¨ªa cambiar gracias al desarrollo del profesor del MIT David Perreault. Este experto en ingenier¨ªa el¨¦ctrica ha ideado un adaptador para la carga de port¨¢tiles que tiene un tamaño que es la cuarta parte de los adaptadores de corriente convencionales y que, entre otras cosas, permite cargar tambi¨¦n otros dispositivos como smartphones y tablets. El Open Source es una filosof¨ªa tradicionalmente asociada al desarrollo software, pero poco a poco esos mismos principios est¨¢n intentando aplicarse tambi¨¦n a desarrollos hardware en los que todos los componentes y los diseños hacen uso de esa filosof¨ªa abierta que permite compartir, modificar y redistribuir esos diseños sin limitaciones.Uno de los ¨²ltimos ejemplos en este campo es el de la creaci¨®n de un port¨¢til Open Source bajo el llamado Project Novena, un impresionante esfuerzo que ha tenido ¨¦xito y que ha permitido a sus desarrolladores crear un equipo cuyo diseño est¨¢ lejos de los modernos ultrabooks, pero cuyas prestaciones son destacables. La idea es a¨²n m¨¢s interesante si tenemos en cuenta el hecho de que el descubrimiento de los programas de espionaje y monitorizaci¨®n masivos de la NSA siguen levantando muchas sospechas entre los usuarios de inform¨¢tica. Esa idea de un port¨¢til Open Source tambi¨¦n facilita en cierta medida la privacidad que muchos buscan. Por supuesto, hab¨ªa muchos requisitos a cumplir para contar con un port¨¢til totalmente Open Source. Por ejemplo, todos los componentes deb¨ªan contar con documentaci¨®n abierta y disponible. En el caso de los procesadores, explican los responsables de Project Novena, solo FreeScale daba la talla, con manuales de programaci¨®n inmensos que ofrecen todas las garant¨ªas para este tipo de proceso.
En el apartado software --tambi¨¦n importante-- la idea era, por supuesto, no depender de drivers binarios (binary blobs), algo que puso en problemas la elecci¨®n de los chips WiFi, pero no tanto de la GPU --como sabr¨¢n los linuxeros, los avances en controladores Open Source para Intel, AMD y NVIDIA va por muy buen camino-- y esa apuesta les sali¨® muy bien, ya que todo parece funcionar --incluida la reproducci¨®n multimedia-- realmente bien.En ese diseño, otra ventaja: la posibilidad de añadir y quitar componentes con una facilidad impresionante y quitando ¨²nicamente un par de tornillos. Ahora le toca el turno a Dos Owls, con su completo y compacto Odin.La idea es llevar Odin olvid¨¢ndonos de m¨¢s dispositivos, ya que ¨¦l mismo puede ser la fuente de los contenidos. Dentro hay un pequeño ordenador con hardware m¨®vil, concretamente un coraz¨®n de cuatro n¨²cleos - ARM Cortex A9 -, con un par de gigas de RAM y hasta 64GB de memoria interna.Sobre las posibilidades del proyector, cuenta con tecnolog¨ªa DMD que permite un gran tamaño de imagen - hasta 125 pulgadas -, y altos niveles de luz (115 Lumens ANSI). La compañ¨ªa promete que su sistema operativo estar¨¢ montado sobre Android 4.4 KitKat. El aspecto que lo hace especial con respecto a otras propuestas es el hecho de contar con sus propios altavoces integrados, un par de unidades con 4 watios de potencia. En cuanto a conectividad, pues tenemos WiFi y Bluetooth, adem¨¢s de puertos HDMI y USB.Para terminar de conseguir un equipo aut¨®nomo, se ha incluido una bater¨ªa de 2.500mAh - a priori algo escasa -, que da una vida de 45 minutos, si hacemos uso de todas las funcionalidades del equipo. En la plataforma se habla que tendr¨¢ un precio de 495 d¨®lares, algo alto para lo que propone.Poder disfrutar y trabajar con perif¨¦ricos inal¨¢mbricos evita el engorro de los cables, pero puede introducir problemas. Eso es lo que han confirmado los expertos en seguridad inform¨¢tica de la empresa Bastille, que han descubierto un conjunto de vulnerabilidades que han logrado explotar con un sistema llamado 'mousejacking'.Este tipo de exploit logra que un atacante pueda aprovechar esas conexiones inal¨¢mbricas en perif¨¦ricos de fabricantes como Logitech, Dell, Microsoft, HP, Amazon, Gigabyte o Lenovo para poder inyectar tanto movimientos y pulsaciones del rat¨®n como pulsaciones de teclas. Existen virtualmente millones de potenciales equipos y usuarios afectados. En las pruebas el grupo de expertos aprovecharon un pequeño adaptador USB de radio conectado a un port¨¢til para conectarse remotamente a equipos que estaban a 100 metros de distancia y en los que lograron realizar esas acciones con el rat¨®n y el teclado conectados inal¨¢mbricamente no a trav¨¦s de tecnolog¨ªas como WiFi o Bluetooth, sino con protocolos propietarios de radio que aprovechan esos fabricantes.La mayor¨ªa de estos fabricantes hacen uso de chips de la empresa noruega Nordic Semiconductor. En estos componentes es posible integrar sistemas de cifrado, pero deben ser las empresas las que deben desarrollar su propio firmware para proteger esas comunicaciones entre el dongle USB que suele ofrecer conectividad inal¨¢mbrica y los perif¨¦ricos que la aprovechan. Esos firmwares no siempre son lo seguros que deben ser, y eso es lo que provoca el problema. Este m¨²sculo se basa en una especie de piel flexible fabricada de paneles electromagn¨¦ticos conectados entre s¨ª, esto les permitir¨¢ adquirir cualquier forma con la intenci¨®n de ser la columna vertebral para una pantalla OLED flexible, con lo que podr¨ªamos tener dispositivos que transformaran de formato tablet a smartphone y viceversa manteniendo su forma en todo momento, e incluso port¨¢tiles plegables que se transformaran en tablets. Casi igualar las especificaciones de las gr¨¢ficas de la generaci¨®n anterior le supone a estas nuevas AMD Polaris necesitar solo la mitad de energ¨ªa. El TDP ser¨¢ de 150 W, lo que permitir¨ªa configuraci¨®n de una conexi¨®n ¨²nica de 8 pines para la alimentaci¨®n. Sandisk ha presentado recientemente una memoria retr¨¢ctil, de muy poco tamaño pero gran capacidad (hasta 128 GB), y destinada a que con un solo gesto podamos intercambiar informaci¨®n entre dispositivos con puerto USB-C de forma sencilla y directa.
Pero eso es s¨®lo el inicio, ya que estas c¨¢maras no s¨®lo grabar¨¢n v¨ªdeo ante posibles casos de controversia, ahora una de las compañ¨ªas responsables de abastecer estos dispositivos est¨¢ adelantando que para el pr¨®ximo año ser¨¢n capaces de transmitir en directo, como si se tratara de Periscope o Facebook Live.Taser International, compañ¨ªa que posee gran parte de los contratos en los departamentos de polic¨ªa en los Estados Unidos, ha salido a declarar que tiene previsto que durante el 2017 las c¨¢maras de los polic¨ªas sean capaces de transmitir en directo v¨ªa streaming por medio de una p¨¢gina web, adem¨¢s de que todo lo que capturen se almacenar¨¢ en la nube para que cualquier persona pueda consultarlo cualquier d¨ªa a cualquier hora.Adem¨¢s de esto, Taser est¨¢ adelantando que posterior a la implementaci¨®n de las transmisiones en directo, lo siguiente ser¨¢ añadir software de reconocimiento facial a las c¨¢maras, con lo que los agentes podr¨¢n identificar a posible sospechoso, as¨ª como personas con ordenes pendientes, todo de forma inmediata. Todo esto podr¨ªa sonar muy bien, pero Robert Vanman de WatchGuard, compañ¨ªa competidora por el mercado de las c¨¢maras de polic¨ªas, trat¨® de aterrizar todo lo mencionado por su competidor, esto al mencionar que para implementar todo lo que desea Taser se necesita una potente infraestructura que actualmente ni el operador m¨¢s grande del pa¨ªs posee, ya que necesitar¨ªan en primer lugar banda ancha considerable para la transmisi¨®n simult¨¢nea de miles de polic¨ªas, a esto le añadimos los servidores y finalmente el punto delicado de la situaci¨®n: la privacidad, ya que el grabar en directo y sin autorizaci¨®n a ciudadanos, representar¨ªa una invasi¨®n de las garant¨ªas individuales. Y ni hablar del reconocimiento facial, donde se necesitar¨ªan c¨¢maras con al menos 50 megap¨ªxeles de resoluci¨®n, un sistema de procesamiento port¨¢til que servir¨ªa para ejecutar los algoritmos de reconocimiento en tiempo real, y por ¨²ltimo, un sistema de almacenamiento para la gran base de datos que deber¨¢ tener la c¨¢mara, que adem¨¢s tendr¨¢ que ser capaz de recibir actualizaciones. Por supuesto no tocamos el tema de la bater¨ªa y su autonom¨ªa, porque entonces esto sonar¨¢ m¨¢s disparatado.El punto de esto es que el gobierno de los Estados Unidos quiere ampliar las capacidades de sus polic¨ªas, esto sin importar qu¨¦ se tenga que hacer o el c¨®mo se haga, lo cual se presta a que empresas como Taser reciban luz verde para actuar, sin importar que todo suene incre¨ªble, por lo que tendremos que esperar a 2017 para ver c¨®mo piensan implementar estas mejoras y con qu¨¦ dinero. Con la cuarta generaci¨®n de procesadores Intel Core ya asentada en el mercado es hora de ir mirando al futuro. Broadwell, la pr¨®xima generaci¨®n, llegar¨¢ en torno a los meses de verano del 2014. Se sabe que Intel utilizar¨¢ transistores de 14 nan¨®metros que reducir¨¢n el consumo energ¨¦tico, muy esperados pero que podr¨ªan obligar a la compañ¨ªa a cambiar su modus operandi.Con el foco de Intel centr¨¢ndose en port¨¢tiles y, sobre todo, tablets y smartphones, los ordenadores de sobremesa podr¨ªan pasar a un segundo plano de cara al pr¨®ximo año. En otras palabras: est¨¢n surgiendo los primeros rumores que indican que no existir¨¢n CPU Broadwell para sobremesa, al menos en su lanzamiento inicial previsto para el mes de junio de 2014. Esta ser¨ªa una tabla-resumen de las nuevas arquitecturas previstas, seg¨²n toda esta informaci¨®n que libera la gente de FudZilla. En sobremesa tendr¨ªamos novedades anuales, pero los grandes cambios llegar¨ªan cada dos años. Me temo que oficialmente no se confirmar¨¢ nada hasta la feria de Las Vegas.Su principal valor est¨¢ en la pantalla, que se puede rotar 360 grados para de esta forma ofrecer varias posibilidades de uso. Port¨¢til cl¨¢sico, tablet o una especie de modo marco para fotograf¨ªas, todo en un ordenador pequeño (11 pulgadas) que hemos probado en Berl¨ªn, y cuyas primeras impresiones os traemos tras el salto.
Fue el Lenovo Yoga el m¨¢s conocido de los equipos convertibles. El nuevo Toshiba Radius 11 sigue su misma est¨¦tica y su funcionalidad principal, con esa pantalla capaz de girar 360 grados.Como su nombre indica, Radius 11 tiene un tamaño de 11 pulgadas y, por ello, podemos categorizarlo como un port¨¢til de los pequeños del mercado. La pantalla permite incluirlo como un convertible, pudiendo utilizarlo como port¨¢til cl¨¢sico o como tablet.Las caracter¨ªsticas son muy sencillas en comparaci¨®n con los Yoga de Lenovo, incluyendo un procesador Intel Celeron y 4 GB de memoria RAM. Os resumimos las principales especificaciones en la siguiente tabla:Podemos situar a este equipo entre la gama de entrada y la gama baja de productos. Tras haberlo probado en el stand de Toshiba en IFA 2014 hay que reconocer que su rendimiento es bastante aceptable, en parte gracias a los 4 GB de memoria RAM con los que el sistema Windows 8.1 se mueve de forma correcta. Una vez m¨¢s, como otros de los lanzamientos de Toshiba en materia de ordenadores, es un equipo lejos de ser puntero, aunque se comporta bastante bien. La pantalla es una de las caracter¨ªsticas protagonistas. Siendo de 11 pulgadas Toshiba ha integrado un panel de 1366x768 p¨ªxeles, muy alejado de los otras densidades que empiezan a ser comunes en el mercado. La diferencia es apreciable, aunque no puede categorizarse como mala o insuficiente. Accu Dell RD857 In de reactie laat Dell verder weten dat het terugklokken van de processor een maatregel is om overmatige warmteproductie te voorkomen. Normaliter zou het 'throttlen' niet merkbaar zijn en het aantal gebruikers met klachten zou zeer gering zijn. Alleen bij extreem gebruik zou het systeem overmatig teruggeklokt worden en zou zelfs een reboot nodig zijn om weer normale prestaties uit de laptop te krijgen. Desalniettemin heeft Dell nieuwe bios'en ontwikkeld voor de zakelijke laptops die met het verschijnsel kampen: verbeterde energiebeheer-algoritmes moeten het terugklok-verschijnsel onder controle brengen.Voor onder meer de Latitude E4200- en E4300-laptops, de Latitude E5400 en E5500 en diverse modellen uit de E6400- en E6500-serie zijn verbeterde bios-versies uitgebracht. Ook voor de Dell Precision M2400, M4400 en M6400 zijn bios-updates beschikbaar. Andere modellen die ook door overmatig terugklokken zeer slechte prestaties vertonen, zoals de XPS1645, hebben nog geen bios-update gekregen; het is ook nog niet bekend of daarbij de oorzaak vergelijkbaar is. Apple is van plan de MacBook Pro met oledbalk voor functietoetsen en Touch ID eind oktober uit te brengen. Dat claimt MacRumors. Er gaan al maanden geruchten over de nieuwe laptop. Apple heeft Macs al een tijd niet van een update voorzien.Apple zal volgende week een update van de b¨¨ta van macOS 10.12.1 uitbrengen, claimt MacRumors. In die versie van het besturingssysteem zit volgens de site ondersteuning voor de nieuwe hardwarefuncties van de MacBook Pro, zoals de oledstrip boven het toetsenbord en de vingerafdrukscanner. Na de volgende testversie wil Apple zo snel mogelijk 10.12.1 afronden om het daarna op de nieuwe laptops te zetten. Daarmee zou de MacBook Pro eind oktober klaar zijn om in de winkels te liggen. Alleen de balk boven het toetsenbord krijgt een oledscherm. Het reguliere display zal een lcd zijn. Het ligt voor de hand dat Apple snel wil komen met de nieuwe versie van zijn duurste laptopserie. Fabrikanten mikken er altijd op producten uit te brengen voordat veel mensen tijdens de feestdagen inkopen gaan doen. In de Verenigde Staten gebeurt dat op Black Friday in november. Een eerder gerucht sprak alleen over een release eind dit jaar.MacRumors geeft alleen van de MacBook Pro een indicatie wanneer hij uitkomt. Volgens de site zijn er ook nieuwe versies in ontwikkeling van de MacBook Air die een usb-c-poort meekrijgen. Ook het Thunderbolt Display zou een nieuwe versie krijgen met 5k-resolutie. Daarnaast zijn de Mac Mini en Mac Pro toe aan een update, zegt de Apple-fansite.Brando heeft een expresscard-adapter uitgebracht waarmee een laptop van twee usb 3.0-poorten kan worden voorzien. Met de adapter kan ook de huidige generatie notebooks worden voorzien van de nieuwe interfacestandaard. De Aspire 8920G heeft een 18,4"-lcd met een resolutie van 1920x1080 pixels die vanwege zijn 16:9-verhouding full-hd-films af kan spelen zonder zwarte balken boven en onderaan het scherm, en kan geleverd worden met een blu-ray-speler met dubbele snelheid. De lcd wordt bij de 8920G aangedreven door de nieuwe Geforce 9650M- of 9500M-gpu van Nvidia, die toegang heeft tot 512MB gddr3-vram. Intel levert de Core 2 Duo-processor en de 8920G biedt plaats aan maximaal twee harde schijven van elk 320GB.De Aspire 6920G moet het standaard doen met 16"-lcd met een resolutie van 1366x768 en een Geforce 9500M-gpu, maar is ook te bestellen in een uitvoering met een 16"-full-hd-scherm. De blu-ray-speler is ook hier optioneel, maar doet zijn werk op enkele snelheid. De 6920G is met 3,5 kilo iets kleiner en lichter dan de 8920, maar biedt ook maar plaats aan ¨¦¨¦n harde schijf.
De schade aan de microfoonkabel zou ontstaan als er volgens Acer 'herhaaldelijk extreme druk wordt uitgeoefend op de linker palmsteun'. Door de warmte kan de behuizing van de laptop gaan vervormen en er kunnen andere problemen met het apparaat ontstaan, aldus Acer.Voor de terugroepactie komen de modellen AS3410, AS3810T, AS3810TG, AS3810TZ en AS3810TZG die voor 15 september 2009 zijn geproduceerd in aanmerking. Via een controle van het serienummer op de website van Acer kan gekeken worden of de kosteloze reparatie noodzakelijk is. Bij de reparatie zal de gehele microfoonkabel worden vervangen.MSI heeft nieuwe producten aangekondigd die het hardwarebedrijf volgende week op de Cebit 2008-computerbeurs in Duitsland zal tonen. Onder de nieuwe producten bevindt zich een laptop die negatieve ionen uitstoot. MSI dicht aan de negatief geladen ionen, die via de zijkanten van de PR620 Anion-laptop in hoge concentraties naar buiten worden gestuwd, allerlei gezondheidsvoordelen toe die volgens de fabrikant vooral tot uitdrukking komen bij gebruik van de laptop in kleine ruimtes. Zo zouden de ionen virussen in de luchtwegen kunnen doden, de inhalatie van stofdeeltjes voorkomen en rooklucht kunnen verwijderen. Er zijn echter kanttekeningen te plaatsen bij de beweringen.Tevens kondigt MSI zijn nieuwe PX210 aan die volgens het bedrijf de eerste 12"-subnotebook is met een discrete gpu. Gebruikelijk in dat segment is een chipset met een igp die het geheugen moet delen met de processor. Het is niet bekend welke gpu van ATI gebruikt wordt en hoeveel geheugen deze krijgt toebedeeld. Verder introduceert MSI nieuwe modellen in zijn E-serie van laptops die, nu blu-ray definitief gewonnen heeft, een ingebouwde blu-ray-speler bevatten. Daarnaast kondigt MSI zes moederborden aan gebaseerd op de nieuwe X48-, P45- en G45-chipsets van Intel. Het high-end moederbord in MSI's nieuwe serie heeft ondersteuning voor Intels 45nm Penryn-processor, een 1600MHz fsb en 1600MHz DDR3-geheugen. Ook introduceert MSI twee moederborden in Intels ipc-formaat voor industriële toepassingen en htpc's. De MS-9818 heeft ondersteuning voor 45nm Penryn-processors, is voorzien van de Intel Cantiga-chipset met ingebouwde gpu en heeft onder meer een hdmi-aansluiting. De Fuzzy Q35DO biedt ondersteuning voor Core 2 Duo-processors en is bedoeld voor gebruik in thuisservers en htpc's. Intel heeft op het Intel Developer Forum een prototype van een laptop getoond met drie extra oled-touchscreens die direct onder het lcd-beelscherm zijn geplaatst. De drie aanraakgevoelige oled-displays ondersteunen multitouch.Het prototype heeft van Intel codenaam Tangent Bay meegekregen. De futuristische notebook werd door de chipfabrikant aan een aantal bloggers getoond, waaronder Cnet Asia. Op de drie oled-displays die direct boven het toetsenbord zijn bevestigd, kan de gebruiker diverse toepassingen starten, zoals een mediaspeler, instant messenger of een menu met snelkoppelingen. Dankzij de drie touchscreens en multitouch-ondersteuning kunnen applicaties eenvoudig naar een naastgelegen oled-display of het grote lcd-beeldscherm worden verplaatst. Ook kunnen playlists worden gesorteerd en het afspelen van video's op het grote lcd-display aangestuurd worden. Welke hardware precies in de notebook huist, is onbekend.Benjamin Heckendorn heeft weer een Xbox 360 tot laptop verbouwd. Dit keer viel zijn keuze op een Xbox 360 Elite, zodat de laptop met een 120GB-schijf en een draadloze controller is uitgerust.
Benjamin, die op internet beter bekend is als Ben Heck, bouwde in 2006 zijn eerste Xbox 360-laptop en nog geen jaar later volgde versie twee. Hij nam niet alleen spelcomputers van Microsoft onder handen, maar ook de Nintendo Wii werd tot laptop omgetoverd. De lijst met Bens mods is lang.Zijn nieuwste project behelst een Xbox 360 Elite die tot laptop is omgebouwd. De Elite-uitvoering van Microsofts spelcomputer wordt geleverd met een hdmi-aansluiting, waardoor het scherm met een dvi-kabel kon worden aangesloten. Ben heeft ook een webcam ingebouwd, die onder het scherm is geplaatst. De bekende lichtring is voor het toetsenbord geplaatst en de dvd-speler zit aan de voorkant. Ben heeft een video op Youtube gezet waarin hij de 'Xbox 360 Laptop mk3' demonstreert.Lenovo heeft in de Verenigde Staten multitouch-versies van de X200-tablet en de T400s-laptop uitgebracht. De twee nieuwe apparaten sluiten aan bij de komst van Microsofts Windows 7, dat ondersteuning voor multitouch-apparatuur biedt. Lenovo levert de X200-tablet en de T400s-laptop uit de Thinkpad-serie voortaan desgeswenst met een multitouch-scherm. De Amerikaanse introductie van de multitouch-versies valt een maand voor de release van Windows 7, dat over ingebouwde multitouch-ondersteuning beschikt. Lenovo komt binnenkort ook met het programma 'SimpleTap', waarmee de scherminstellingen en het volume via schermaanrakingen kunnen worden gewijzigd.Lenovo gebruikte de term 'multitouch' al eerder voor schermen die zowel met een pen als met de vinger kunnen worden bediend. De schermen voor de T400s en de X200 zijn de eerste van Lenovo die bediening met meerdere vingers tegelijk mogelijk maken. De tablet kan daarbij maximaal twee vingers tegelijk herkennen; de T400s-laptop ondersteunt bediening met vier vingers. De multitouch-laptop gaat voor 2000 dollar van de hand; de tablet kost 1600 dollar. Lenovo bevestigde tegenover Tweakers.net dat de modellen naar Nederland komen, maar wilde nog niet zeggen wanneer dat gaat gebeuren. Toshiba heeft een laptop voorzien van een autostereoscopisch scherm, waarmee de gebruiker 3d-beeldweergave kan ervaren zonder een bril op te hoeven zetten. De 3d-weergave kan ook in een apart venster, waarbij de rest van het scherm 2d toont.Toshiba heeft de dynabook Qosmio T851/D8CR in Japan uitgebracht. Het scherm van het model is autostereoscopisch. Door het gebruik van lenticulaire lenzen is het 3d-effect sterk afhankelijk van de positie van de gebruiker. Om deze beperking wat te verminderen, gebruikt Toshiba actieve lenzen in het paneel, die de polarisatie van de led-backlight regelen op basis van de positie van het gezicht van de gebruiker. Die positie wordt bepaald door de webcamera in combinatie met facetracking-technologie. Accu Dell 3H349 Usb-specialist Brando heeft een insteekkaart voor laptops uitgebracht. De expresscard biedt twee usb 3.0-poorten, die uiteraard backwards compatible zijn met de tragere usb 1.1- en 2.0-standaarden. De insteekkaart wordt in een /34-expresscard-slot gestoken en levert daarmee een maximale doorvoersnelheid van 2,5Gbps - wat nog wel ruim minder is dan de topsnelheid van 4Gbps die een enkele usb 3.0-poort moet kunnen halen.Brando levert bij zijn ExpressCard USB 3.0 2-Ports Hub een voedingskabel, die extra stroom van een reguliere usb 2.0-poort betrekt. Een usb 3.0-poort moet maximaal 900mA kunnen leveren. De insteekkaart kost omgerekend 26 euro en Brando verstuurt zijn producten tijdelijk kosteloos wereldwijd. HP gaat modellen in zijn dv- en g-serie voor consumenten en ProBook-serie voor zakelijke gebruikers uitrusten met nieuwe AMD-apu's in de A-serie. Het gaat om elf bestaande modellen die HP ook al met Intel-processors levert.HP gaat de Pavilion dv4-, dv6- en dv7-notebooks met respectievelijk 14"-, 15,6"- en 17,3"-schermen met AMD A4-dualcores en A8-quadcores uitrusten. HP heeft de benchmarktool 3DMark 06 gebruikt en zegt dat de nieuwe modellen met een AMD A4-apu een meer dan twee keer zo hoge score neerzetten als identieke notebooks met Phenom N870-processor en AMD-chipset met geintegreerde videochip. De dv6 met AMD-apu krijgt een startprijs van 600 dollar en de dv7 moet in zijn eenvoudigste configuratie 700 dollar kosten. HP brengt ook de goedkopere Pavilion g4-, g6- en g7-laptops met AMD A-apu's uit. De startprijs van de g4 is in die hoedanigheid 450 dollar en die van de g6 498, terwijl de beginprijs van de g7 499 dollar bedraagt. Naast de consumentenlaptops krijgen ook zakelijke modellen AMD-chips. De HP ProBook 6465b en 6565b zijn AMD-versies van 14"- en 15,6"-modellen die HP in februari met Intel-chips uitbracht, en die over aluminium behuizingen beschikken. Ook de goedkopere ProBook 4535s, 4435s en 4436s gaan met AMD-chips verschijnen. De startprijs van de b-serie van ProBooks is 679 dollar. De s-modellen hebben een vanaf-prijs van 519 dollar. Beide laptop-series komen vanaf 27 juni beschikbaar, maar niet bekend is welke types naar Nederland komen.Acer brengt een variant van de dinsdag geïntroduceerde Aspire 7560G-laptop uit. Het bedrijf voorziet dit model van een AMD A6-apu met Radeon HD 6650M en brengt het over een maand voor 600 euro op de Nederlandse markt. Dinsdag introduceerde AMD zijn Llano-apu's in de A-serie en Tweakers.net ontving informatie over een van de eerste notebooks die met deze chip die op de Nederlandse markt komen. Deze Aspire 7560G komt echter niet alleen in een versie met AMD A8-3500M uit, maar ook met een minder krachtige A6-3400M. De kloksnelheid van deze chip is 1,4GHz, met een turbo naar 2,3GHz, en het gpu-deel is de Radeon HD 6520G met 320 streamprocessors en een corekloksnelheid van 400MHz.Acer combineert de HD 6520G bij de 7560G-6346G75MN met de Radeon 6650M, die over 2GB ddr3-vram beschikt, en volgens de marketingafdeling van AMD moet deze Dual Graphics-opstelling als 'Radeon HD 6720G2' geadverteerd worden. De Acer-notebook heeft verder een 17"-scherm met resolutie van 1600x900 pixels, 6GB geheugen en een hdd met een opslagcapaciteit van 750GB. Verder zijn usb 3.0, een 1,3-megapixelcamera en een zescellige accu aanwezig. Over vier weken moet het model uitkomen en dan 600 euro gaan kosten, waar zijn AMD A8-evenknie 750 euro gaat kosten.
Nicholas Negroponte, voorzitter van de OLPC-organisatie, heeft bekendgemaakt dat de tweede versie van de XO-laptop niet uit zal komen. In plaats daarvan wordt er gewerkt aan een revisie van de huidige XO-laptop en een dunne tablet.De XO-2 werd in mei van vorig jaar door OLPC aan de wereld getoond. Het model had de vorm van een boek en twee aanraakgevoelige schermen die volledig opengeklapt konden worden. Het project stelde zichzelf ten doel de XO-2 goedkoper en tevens zuiniger te maken dan het huidige model. Het model zou in het voorjaar van 2010 uitgebracht moeten worden, maar dat zal niet gebeuren, maakt Nicholas Negroponte, voorzitter van de OLPC, bekend in een interview met Xconomy. "Versie 2.0 is vervangen door twee dingen. Model 1.75 heeft hetzelfde ontwerp maar bevat een ARM-cpu, en model 3.0 heeft een totaal ander uiterlijk, meer als een velletje papier", onthult Negroponte. Bij versie 1.75 refereert de voorzitter aan een gereviseerde variant van de huidige XO-laptop, die een zuinige ARM-chip zal bevatten. Over versie 3.0 wilde hij verder loslaten dat deze compleet van plastic, onbreekbaar, waterbestendig en 0,6cm dik wordt. Ook zou het 'vel papier' full color zijn, geen bezel hebben en slechts 1W verbruiken. Het doel van de stichting zou zijn om het model voor 75 dollar te gaan leveren en deze in 2012 uit te brengen. Bij de GT 683R combineert MSI de GTX 560M met 1,5GB gddr5-geheugen. De processor is de Core i7 2630QM en de machine heeft 8GB ddr-geheugen, uitbreidbaar tot 16GB, en een harde schijf van 640GB met een rotatiesnelheid van 7200rpm onder de motorkap. De resolutie van het 15,6"-scherm is 1920x1080 beeldpunten.De notebook ondersteunt wifi-n en bluetooth. Ook zijn hdmi, esata en een 4-in-1-kaartlezer aanwezig, naast twee usb 3.0-poorten. MSI voorziet het model van een 9 cellige accu, waarmee de notebook het ongeveer 3 uur zou uithouden. Het gewicht bedraagt 3,5 kilo. De speakers en de subwoofer zijn van het merk Dynaudio, waarmee MSI vaker samenwerkt voor zijn gamingmodellen. Wat de prijs van de laptop gaat worden, is nog niet bekend. AMD brengt in het tweede kwartaal van 2010 een mobiele triplecore Phenom II op de markt. De Phenom II N820 zal deel uitmaken van AMD's Danube-platform voor notebooks. In 2011 volgt het Sabine-platform met hybride cpu- en gpu-chips.Danube zal niet alleen bestaan uit op 45nm geproduceerde Champlain-quadcores, maar er komt ook een triplecore-variant, claimt Fudzilla. Het gaat om de Phenom II N820 die 1,5MB L2-cache, ddr3 1333MHz-ondersteuning en een HyperTransport-snelheid van 3,6GT/s heeft. De kloksnelheid is nog onbekend maar wel is duidelijk dat de tdp op 35W ligt. Danube, dat halverwege 2010 verschijnt, wordt verder opgetrokken rond een RS880M-chipset en de SB8xM-southbridge, die onder andere maximaal veertien usb-poorten en sata 6Gbps mogelijk maakt. In 2011 wordt Danube opgevolgd door Sabine en dit platform markeert de komst van de Llano-chips die uit een cpu en een gpu op een enkele die bestaan. Volgens Fudzilla wordt Llano een dualcore die nog steeds op de Phenom-core is gebaseerd en zal het gpu-deel DirectX11 ondersteunen en sterk lijken op de mobiele Evergreen-videochips die AMD gaat uitbrengen.
Hoewel ssd's vooralsnog aan de prijzige kant zijn en verhoudingsgewijs weinig opslagcapaciteit bieden, worden ze als een snel en energiezuinig alternatief gezien voor harde schijven. Volgens onderzoeker Avi Cohen van Avian Securities krijgen grote computerfabrikanten echter tussen de twintig en dertig procent van hun met ssd's uitgeruste laptops terug. In zijn onderzoeksrapport stelt Cohen dat van de notebooks met harde schijf slechts een ¨¤ twee procent wordt teruggezonden wegens problemen met de opslag. Cohen baseert zijn conclusies op een recente rondgang langs computerfabrikanten in Azië, maar hij noemt geen namen van bedrijven. Bij tien ¨¤ twintig procent van de teruggestuurde systemen zou het om kapotte of gebrekkig functionerende flashdisks gaan terwijl de rest wordt geretourneerd omdat de prestaties ervan tegenvallen. Dat zou betekenen dat de uitval op technische gronden in het ergste geval zes procent van de verkochte ssd-systemen bedraagt, en dat de vijf tot tien keer zoveel retouren van ontevreden klanten afkomstig zijn. Hoewel Cohen niet duidelijk maakt hoe hij tot deze cijfers komt, lijkt daarmee wel aangetoond dat ssd-schijven meer beloven dan ze kunnen waarmaken.Dell was een van de eerste fabrikanten die de mogelijkheid bood om een notebooks met een ssd te bestellen. Het bedrijf weigert tegenover Cnet het aantal teruggezonden modellen te noemen, maar geeft toe dat de prestaties van ssd's bij applicaties waarbij veel kleine datapakketjes over en weer worden verzonden, zoals een e-mailclient, slechter zijn dan die van harde schijven. Samsung en Dell werken echter samen aan een nieuw type ssd, waarbij dat probleem opgelost zou zijn. Acer heeft twee nieuwe laptops aangekondigd die voorzien zijn van een aanraakgevoelige 'mediaconsole'. De Aspire Gemstone wordt geleverd in een 16"- en 18,4"-uitvoering en een blu-ray-speler is als optie leverbaar.Acer Gemstone laptopHet meest in het oog springende kenmerk van de Aspire Gemstone-laptops die Acer heeft aangekondigd, is de aanraakgevoelige 'Cinedash'-mediabediening, aan de linkerkant van het toetsenbord. Hiermee is onder meer het volume aan te passen en kunnen muzieknummers worden gestart en gepauzeerd worden. Dolby Home Theater wordt ondersteund door de vijf geïntegreerde luidsprekers. Esto quiere decir, a efectos pr¨¢cticos, que pueden registrar lo que escribimos y hacerse as¨ª con nuestras contraseñas desde 75 metros de distancia.Nos sorprendi¨®. No ten¨ªamos ninguna expectativa de que en pleno 2016 estas empresas estar¨ªan vendiendo teclados sin cifrado, ha dicho Ivan O¡¯Sullivan, Jefe de Investigaci¨®n de Bastille, tras descubrir que leer las pulsaciones es posible gracias a que estos grandes fabricantes las transmiten desde su teclado sin ning¨²n tipo de protecci¨®n.En sus pruebas, los t¨¦cnicos de la empresa de seguridad han utilizado un pequeño adaptador USB de radio de apenas 12 d¨®lares, rescribiendo su firmware para utilizar los protocolos de los teclados y ratones que hab¨ªan estado utilizando. El adaptador lo insertaron en un port¨¢til desde el que consiguieron actuar sobre ordenadores a 250 pies de distancia, 76,2 metros.
En sus pruebas de febrero lograron insertar pulsaciones en los rat¨®nes y teclados conectados inal¨¢mbricamente con protocolos de radio en vez de tecnolog¨ªa WiFi o Bluetooth utilizando una t¨¦cnica a la que bautizaron como Musejacking. Con ello pudieron descargar malware en los ordenadores de forma remota.Ahora, con su nuevo ataque bautizado como Keysniffer, los investigadores tambi¨¦n han conseguido ser capaces de leer las pulsaciones en el mismo tipo teclados y ratones. Esto quiere decir que pueden registrar todo lo que escribimos, incluidas las webs que visitamos, nuestros nombres de usuario o contraseñas. Y lo peor de todo es que mientras Musejacking era detectable, Keysniffer parece que no lo es. Microsoft no s¨®lo ha presentado sus nuevos tel¨¦fonos Surface, una renovada Surface Pro 4 y ha mostrado m¨¢s en detalle las Hololens, sino que adem¨¢s nos ha sorprendido con un nuevo producto que, por raro que parezca hoy en d¨ªa, no se hab¨ªa filtrado: el Surface Book. Éstas han sido todas las novedades:El Surface Book era el port¨¢til convertible que muchos parec¨ªan estar esperando: el yang de ese ying que hab¨ªan sido las diferentes versiones de sus Surface Pro. Kwaadwillenden kunnen op een eenmaal gekraakte computer misbruik maken van de software op de Dongel om sms'jes te versturen. KPN heeft inmiddels maatregelen genomen om de gekraakte computers van klanten te beschermen tegen verdere acties van de hackers. KPN kwam het misbruik op het spoor toen een bepaalde shortcode, die voor sms-diensten wordt gebruikt, ineens veel berichten kreeg. Ook nam een van de klanten contact op met de provider over dit probleem. Het standaard deactiveren van de sms-functie van de dongle zou een oplossing zijn om misbruik te voorkomen, maar dat mag niet, aldus Van Zijl. De sms-functie staat standaard aan om extra functionaliteit te bieden en te voldoen aan EU-regelgeving inzake dataroaming. KPN ontkent dat kwaadwillenden op afstand rechtstreeks toegang hebben tot de dongle; dat zou altijd via de laptop moeten verlopen.KPN geeft geen concrete tips om de hack te voorkomen of te kunnen detecteren. De provider verwijst als antwoord op een vraag daarover naar een eigen website over de beveiliging van computers. Vrijdag publiceerde Tweakers.net voor het eerst over de hack, die diverse bedrijven hoge telefoonrekeningen heeft bezorgd. De zaak kwam aan het rollen nadat een getroffene zijn ervaringen op GoT had gezet. Panasonic toont woensdag een direct methanol-brandstofcel die een laptop twintig uur achter elkaar van stroom kan voorzien. Het apparaat zal echter voorlopig nog niet in de winkel liggen.De nieuwe brandstofcel heeft slechts 200 milliliter methanol nodig om twintig uur lang tussen de 10 en 20 watt aan elektriciteit te leveren. Dell biedt drie varianten aan: een uitgeklede variant die het lezen van mail mogelijk maakt, een versie die alle mogelijkheden zoals Citrix-ondersteuning biedt, maar niet op een eigen chip draait, en de volledige Latitude On-versie die op een ARM-subprocessor draait en daarmee extra zuinig is. HP heeft een aantal nieuwe notebooks in zijn Elitebook-lijn uitgebracht. Het bedrijf brengt onder meer een Elitebook van minder dan anderhalve kilo en een tablet op de markt.Met de Elitebook 2530p zet HP een klein en met zijn 1,45 kilo een licht laptopje op de markt. De zeer draagbare laptop beschikt over een beeldscherm met een diagonaal van 12,1 inch dat door led's wordt verlicht. Ook de processors van de laptops dragen dankzij hun lv- of ulv-technologie bij aan een lange accuduur. De Elitebook 2730p is een tablet-pc met een dikte van 26mm en een gewicht van 1,7 kilo. De tablet met zijn 12-beeldscherm is optioneel verkrijgbaar met een extra accu die het apparaat gedurende twaalf uur van prik kan voorzien. De derde draagbare pc die een beeldscherm met een beelddiagonaal van twaalf inch heeft, is de Compaq 2230s. Deze compacte laptop weegt 1,65 kilo en is puur op de zakelijke markt gericht. HP zet nog drie Elitebooks in de markt: de Elitebook 8730w, Elitebook 8530w en Elitebook 8530p zijn speciaal voor de Dreamcolor-beeldschermlijn ontworpen. Beide laptops zijn van Dreamcolor-displays voorzien die realistische, kleurechte beelden weergeven. De 'mobiele werkstations' moeten vooral grafici bekoren, getuige de quadcore-processor, 8GB geheugen en een Quadro FX-videokaart van Nvidia die het 17-beeldscherm aanstuurt. De 15,4 Elitebook 8530w en 8530p hebben een Intel dualcore aan boord, ondersteund door 8GB geheugen. Optioneel kan in de 8530w voor een quadcore-cpu gekozen worden.
Daarnaast heeft HP een kalibratiesetje voor zijn eveneens aangekondigde Dreamcolor LP2480zx-beeldscherm aangekondigd. Dat 24-beeldscherm werd met animatiehuis Dreamworks ontwikkeld en beschikt over led-achtergrondverlichting en de mogelijkheid om 30bits-kleuren weer te geven. De computerfabrikant kondigde nog twee schermen met diagonalen van respectievelijk 22 en 24 aan in de vorm van de LP2275w en LP2475w. De resoluties zijn 1920x1080 voor het 24-exemplaar en 1680x1050 voor het 22-model. Alle genoemde hardware is per direct verkrijgbaar, met uitzondering van de Compaq 2230s, die pas in december verkocht zal worden.Dell heeft zijn XPS 14z-laptop uitgebracht. De notebook heeft een 14-scherm dat is geplaatst in een behuizing die normaal gesproken voor 13,3-notebooks wordt gebruikt. Dell brengt het model eerst uit in China en later in Nederland. Dell heeft een nieuwe XPS z-laptop aan zijn productlijn toegevoegd. Het model is een kleine variant van de XPS 15z en lijkt wat uiterlijk betreft sterk op dat model. De 14z heeft bijvoorbeeld eveneens een dunne aluminium behuizing en een slotloading dvd-drive. Uit de specificaties die op de Chinese Dell-site staan, valt op te maken dat de dikte van de laptop 23mm en het gewicht 1,98 kilo bedraagt.Dell rust het model uit met een Core i7 2640M of een Core i5 2430M, 4GB geheugen en de GeForce 520M-gpu van Nvidia. Het meest opvallende aan de notebook is de smalle ruimte tussen het paneel en de rand van het scherm. De resolutie van het scherm is 1366x768 pixels. De laptop heeft in China een startprijs van omgerekend 889 euro. Dat Dell het apparaat eerst in China uitbrengt, toont het toegenomen belang aan van die markt voor de Amerikaanse computerbouwer. Later dit jaar komt de XPS 14z in Nederland uit. De Nederlandse prijs is nog onbekend.Nadat de modellen vorige week al kortstondig op de site van de fabrikant verschenen, heeft Acer nu officieel zijn vier nieuwe dunne laptops in de TimelineX-serie uitgebracht. Alle laptops krijgen Core i3-, Core i5- en Core i7-cpu's.Acer brengt de 1830T, 3820T, 4820T en 5820T met respectievelijk een 11,6-, 13,3-, 14- en 15,6-scherm uit. De TimelineX-serie zal over relatief krachtige videokaarten beschikken, hoewel sommige modellen het met de geïntegreerde videochip van de Arrandale-processors moeten doen. Het lichtste model weegt 1,8 kilogram en het zwaarste 2,4 kilo. De laptops zijn niet dunner dan 24 millimeter. Accu Asus AP23-901 Voor gebruik in de trein is de Aview wat minder geschikt, zo geeft Witjas toe. De website claimt dat het om de dunste en lichtste 13-laptop tot dusver gaat. Dat die eerste claim waar zou kunnen zijn, blijkt uit de foto. Volgens de site zou de laptop, als voor een ssd wordt gekozen, ongeveer 1 kilo wegen.Misschien wel interessanter dan het formaat en het gewicht, is de vermelding van een secundaire accu. Het zou niet gaan om een gebruikelijke lithium-ionversie, maar om een scib-accu. Dit type accu, dat Toshiba in 2007 al aankondigde, kan binnen vijf minuten tot 90 procent van zijn capaciteit worden opgeladen. Toshiba zou de laptop in verschillende configuraties gaan leveren. Gebruikers zouden kunnen kiezen uit een Core i7-620, i5-520m of i3-350m, gepaard met 4GB geheugen en een harde schijf of ssd tot 512GB. Een usb 3-dock zou ook tot de mogelijkheden behoren. Volgens vozExpress komt Toshiba binnenkort met een aankondiging en moet de laptop deze zomer uitkomen.Er zouden deze zomer meer dan twee keer zo veel laptopmodellen met AMD-chips op de markt komen als vorig jaar. De gpu is de Nvidia GeForce 330M en naast modellen met Intels Core i5-cpu's komen er ook Core i3-varianten.Er zijn vier usb 2.0-poorten, waarvan er een wordt gedeeld met een esata-aansluiting. Ook ondersteunt de laptop sleep&charge bij de usb-poorten, zodat apparatuur kan worden opgeladen terwijl de notebook uitstaat. Daarnaast is voorzien in hdmi en bluetooth 2.1 + edr-connectiviteit en ondersteuning voor wifi-n.De P580 biedt verder typische zakelijke functionaliteit als een valsensor, die ervoor zorgt dat de koppen van de hdd bij een val worden vastgezet. Ook noemt Samsung de aanwezigheid van geluidsreductie-technologie, maar details hierover ontbreken. Het model heeft een full-qwerty-toetsenbord, inclusief numeriek gedeelte. Het keyboard is van het type dat Samsung ook bij zijn X-serie van thin&lights gebruikt. Aan de onderzijde zit nog een aansluiting voor een dockingstation en een indicator voor de resterende accutijd. In april komt de notebook op de Nederlandse markt. De prijs van het model is nog onbekend.Samsung introduceerde in Londen nieuwe Q-modellen met 13,3-, 14- en 15,6-schermen. Daarvan komen de Q330 en Q530 met respectievelijk 13,3- en 15,6-schermen begin juli naar Nederland. De Nederlandse specificaties zijn nog niet bekend, maar in Groot-Brittannië bevatten de geïntroduceerde modellen een Core i3-350M met een kloksnelheid van 2,26GHz en een beeldscherm met een resolutie van 1366x768 pixels. De Q-laptops zijn 27mm dik en de Q330 en Q530 wegen respectievelijk 1,96 en 2,33 kilogram. Daarnaast hebben ze een dvd-brander, drie usb 2.0-poorten en een accu met 6 cellen, waarmee de laptops het vijf uur zouden uithouden. De Q530 krijgt een GeForce GT 330M, maar de Q330 moet het met de geïntegreerde videochip van de Core i3 doen. De laptops zijn van geborsteld aluminium en de combinatie van de zilverkleurige behuizing en een zwart chiclet-toetsenbord leidt ertoe dat de vergelijking met de MacBook Pro van Apple snel is gemaakt.
Samsung P530Samsung komt tegen die tijd ook met de P530. Dit is een goedkoper model met een Core i3-330M, 3GB en wat lichtere, minder strakke behuizing zonder geborsteld aluminium cover. Andere wijzigingen ten opzichte van de P580 zijn dat de P530 geen gigabit ethernet, docking-poort en esata heeft. De adviesprijs is 789 euro.AMD heeft zijn nieuwe mainstream- en ultraportable-platforms geïntroduceerd. Bij de ultraportables zou AMD vooral tot betere accutijden leiden; de mainstream-notebooks krijgen een prestatieboost, onder meer door Phenom II-quadcores. Het ultraportable-platform had voorheen de codenaam Nile en moet Congo opvolgen. Vijf cpu's maken deel uit van dit platform: twee Turion II Neo-dualcores, een Athlon II Neo-dualcore, een Athlon II Neo-singlecore en de AMD V105. De Dualcores hebben een tdp van 15W, de Athlon II Neo-singlecore heeft een tdp van 12W en de V105 is met zijn tdp van 9W de zuinigste van de nieuwelingen. Waar het vorige platform nog een maximum-accuduur van 6 uur mogelijk maakte, zou dit bij Nile op 8 uur liggen.Naast de cpu zijn ddr3-geheugen en de RS880-chipset onderdeel van het platform. Ook de gpu heeft daarmee een upgrade gekregen; de igp is een model uit de Mobility Radeon HD 4200-serie met DirectX 10.1-ondersteuning, hoewel fabrikanten additioneel ook een gpu uit de HD 5400-lijn met DX11-ondersteuning mogen toevoegen. Het Nile-platform is volgens AMD bedoeld voor laptops met schermdiagonalen van 11 tot en met 13,3 inch. AMD meldt dat vrijwel alle grote fabrikanten met op AMD gebaseerde thin & lights komen, waarbij als voorbeeld HP's Pavilion DM1 en DM3, Acers Aspire 5625 en Lenovo's Edge 15 worden genoemd. Het nieuwe Danube-platform voor mainstream-laptops is de opvolger van Tigris. Ook laptops op basis van Danube moeten het langer op een acculading kunnen volhouden dan hun voorgangers. Dit komt onder andere doordat de nieuwe cpu's uit de Champlain-serie op 45nm worden geproduceerd, maar AMD claimt ook andere optimalisaties te hebben doorgevoerd, onder meer bij de CoolCore-technologie en met betrekking tot het uitschakelen van ongebruikte systeemonderdelen. De meest in het oog springende onderdelen van het platform zijn de Phenom II-triplecore en -quadcores en de Black Edition-cpu's die over een unlocked multiplier beschikken voor eenvoudiger overklokken. Het mainstreamplatform bevat verder dezelfde onderdelen als Nile. De laptops krijgen dus ddr3-geheugen, de RS880-chipset met de Mobility Radeon HD 4200-igp, met optioneel een gpu uit de HD 5400-lijn.
